he was a health fanatic. he wouldn't touch anything that would have a negative effect on his body or training methods. he couldn't afford to be doing drugs or drinking or smoking.
Now that's the funniest shit I've heard about Bruce Lee.He was a fanatic about exercise and keeping in shape but as far as health he was not a fanatic, I have no idea where this opinion of yours comes from.Perhaps as a fan of his you like to believe he was some God and perfect.Have you ever studied anything about Bruce Lee? I have and I know he was far from perfect as a human being.Next you'll tell me he never got into trouble in school and on the streets of Hong Kong, which most if not all of us know he did.
As far as drinking I've never heard anything about that with him however I wouldn't doubt it if he did,if he can do drugs he could easily drink alot too.

actually(like i have said many times on this forum) that i have read just about everything on the man. i know him(from what i have read and seen)inside and out. he was a health fanatic and wouldn't touch the stuff. sure he was human. but he was also much more disciplined then some people make him out to be. yes i am a fan. do i think he is god?....hell no! just because im defending a dead guy makes me a worshipper? oh and this

that is the most ironic, biggest oxymoron i have ever heard...here it's like this...im gonna go workout, drink my gatoraid, work out some more, go train a lil then go home, smoke some weed and get so far drunk off my ass, that i won't remember my own name. ...that's what u just said...how can someone(especially a man with less the 4 percent body fat) be a health fanatic, but smoke pot and hash?(or whatever, i wouldn't know) does that make any sense whatsoever? no it doesn't, does it? yes i do know that he got into many fights and parents had the police called out on him many times, that he trained in taichi with his father, but got bored with it. i know alot of things about him. i know every thing that has ben released about him. so, that's where i get my oppinions from. from linda's writings, dan inasantos writing, brandons writing's. mtf...
where do u get yours?
A person who is said to be proficient in the arts is like a fool. Because of his foolishness in concerning himself with just one thing, he thinks of nothing else and thus becomes proficient. - Hagarkure

Dude not to nitpick but ther are a lot of exercise freaks male/female with perfect bodies that are alcohol, cigarette and drug users/abusers. So it is not Ironic nor oxymorionic. This was actually an argument I had with a friend of mine that is a fairly high level fashion model she is health consious about everything, exercise fanatic, beautiful and smoke like a chimney-disgusting to me.

You are absolutely correct it is Ironic that someone who is such an exercise freak can go home drink alcohol and smoke weed but the truth is it happens all the time.I've seen senseis infront of their dojo having a smoke it seems strange and to me it never made sense but it happens.
I am also a fan of Bruce Lee and I too have read just about everything on him.I have magazines and books and videos dedicated to Bruce Lee and have also seen in weightlifting books about how Bruce had done steroids which is not a surprise with how much he was interested in power.I have also read and heard about Bruce having done hasheesh, he probably did alot more then what most people realize.Believe it or not but Bruce was far from being a saint.
To confirm what I have been saying about Bruce having done drugs I have done some extra research on net and here is proof showing that I am correct.
http://www.myodynamics.com/articles/bruce.html some where in this article it tells you that Bruce used steroids and diuretics to achieve his physique and that Bruce was also a user of Marijuana. He also took prescription medications Cortisone and Dilantin.Dilatin is a medication used for both people of manic depression and epileptics.
Bruce Lee never competed so why is it so many people see him as the best martial artist and fighter? The truth be told is he was the best in his reintroduction to the phylosophies and theories of some previous martial arts styles and was the reason martial arts of today is the way it is and has nothing to do with his fighting ability as everyone thinks. Was he a good fighter? probably, but was he the best? Definitely not.Was he the best martial arts actor? I would have to say he was, because I love his movies, but none of this changes the fact that he did do drugs to get himself where he did.

A lot of people complained that Bruce didn't compete, but how could he compete? Back in the old days most martial artists either didn't compete or fight in point fighting tournament. Point fighting is not what Bruce was about, Bruce was more into reality-based combat instead of tagging each other with imaginary techniques and have a panel of judges decide which techniques could have done damage in real life. That was why Bruce stuck with sparring with Karate champions, and they had good things to say about his skills.
Was he the greatest fighter in the entire world? Hell no. Was he one of the best fighters in his weight category back in his days? Maybe, according to Bob Wall and Jim Kelly.

Bruce was more into reality-based combat!!!!!!!!! ya sure if you call Kung Fu,Tai chi and Wing chun reality based combat. To me those arts are far from being realistic.Ony reason these arts are so well known and overrated is because they are arts Bruce studied before coming up with JKD.

ok..that had more praises then it did insults. but anyway, ok..he didn't run really fast and for a long time. ok his lower body strength was average. would u wanna be kicked by him?..hell no. so does that really matter.( i have read that somewhere b4 fyi..don't remember where or why though )
but anyway. ok..other then that thing i have never heard of him doing drugs, but if it's the truth then i accept it. no biggie. it's an oxymoron, but what the hell. everybody is human. He still had incredible speed, power, and i still think he was the greatest. he didn't compete in tournements cuz they had too many rules for his "way" to work. if he was stuck with wing chun in a tournement, i still belive he would win due to his speed and upper body strength. i still don't believe he had a mistress. linda denies it and so did bruce. inasanto does as well.i seriously doubt that. but if he did drugs, then he did drugs. nothing can be done. but note this, when my grandpa died in a hit and run accident a couple of years ago, they found meth in his system.(or was it?) they found a chemical(Sorry for the lack of names, i don't remember the name) that replicates the drug to a t in his stomach. at first they thought he did due to(not only injuries) but from an overdose. when in fact it was cuz he was so scared(his hair turned completely white b4 he was hit)a chemical in the body was released and that changed the color of his body hair, and that chemical was found in his stomach at the autopsy. i know there are chemicals that look like weed but aren't. and remember, this autopsy was done when? 1973?. i mean they didn't even have dna evidence used in court untill 1989. so i still have my doubts. but if he did, then so be it. no changing it now right?
"a muscle's maximum contractile force is proportional to its cross-sectional area."
I spotted a few mistakes in the link you posted so I took one extract and thought I'd refine it.
What he was trying to say by this comment is a muscle only contracts so much as to its mass so in other words a smaller athlete has less muscle to contract and therefore can extract the same muscle group with less effort thus making him faster but you have to realize the contraction of a muscle takes place based on two factors.
One is the type of muscle fiber used and the other is the amount of muscle fibers used.
Muscle fiber I is used for explosive workload like weight training and Muscle fiber II is used for endurance workload like running a marathon.
Now you can develop either one of these muscle groups but you cant develop both of them simultaneously and that is the reason why a bodybuilder cant also be a competitior in a marathon and vice versa.
Simply put this means if you can curl 80 pounds but still run a 7.5 minute/mile your genes are developed to an amazing standard which puts you in the super-human field.
Now steroids primarily work by increasing nitrogen in the body which increases the transport of protein to the muscle which boosts the healing process and means the athlete can work out a lot more but one thing you have to realize about steroids is it can either increase your Type I muscle fibers or type II. When you take steroids it will increase one while destroying the other, thats why steroids are more commonly used in explosive sports like sprinting and you never hear of a runner in the marathon using steroids.
The fact is that if Bruce Lee did use steroids it would tear apart his aerobic capability and it would be way beyond what it was in those tests they provided.
Also the reason Bruce lee was so strong was because he did O-lifts which increased muscle fibers so pound for pound he probably was the strongest in the world but at the same time it was because of his controversial style of training. O-lifts increase the amount of muscle fibers and with more muscle fibers there is more of a contraction regardless of muscle size hence proving the above theory wrong again.
Simply put anybody can put together a crap theory but until you have something anatomical its best to keep it to yourself.

Let me correct you by saying first that Type I muscle fibers are used for endurance while Type II are for strength. Also type II fibers are much larger than type I. the difference between a sprinter and a marathon runner is which muscle fiber is dominate in their body. It tends to be close to 50/50 in how much of which fiber you have but in the case of athletes sprinters tend to have more type II while marathon runners have more type I. Besides studies have shown that steroids makes both larger but its that the type II grow much larger faster. Steroids will not screw with your endurance. Bodybuilders use steroids because of their dominant type II they see the benefits almost immediatly. Marathon runners don't because the results are not great enough. It really depends on what you train for. Even if Bruce Lee did use steroids (which I don't believe is beyond him as it was considered another supplement back then) he trained for both endurance and strength so he kept himself well rounded. Bodybuilders don't run marathons because that is not their focus. Marathons runners don't lift heavy because that is not their focus. Bruce lee could do both because that is what he focused on. Besides he was a skinny little dude which makes me think that he was predominantly a type I muscle fiber guy but built his type II enough to compensate.
Actually steroids like Nandrolone Phenylpropionate have been shown to increase endurance fibers and reduce enthationes within the estrogenic spectrum while increasing red blood cells.
As we all know red blood cells carry oxygen so this steroid would have been of great use to Bruce Lee but unfortunately it was unavailable at his time.
Another steroids that would have been of great use was Trenbolone actetate but again this was also unavailable all those years ago.
Only steroid available was methandrostenediol which is an 17-alpha-alkalyted steroid and very bad for endurance work of which bruce did a lot and it even has heavy estrogenic properties which would cause the effects of gynecomestia in a lighter athlete.
I still think he could have gotten around some of it by hitting high doses for short peroids of time like most people did back then. Constant use would have hurt him more.
"That's how I feel, I'ma do whatever I like ... I was raised in this society so you can't expect me to be a perfect person cause, I'ma do what I'ma do."
can we please just drop this, bruce did this , nor he didnt , yes he did, no he didnt,
yous are going backward and foreward like a pair of whores knicker's!!!
backwards and forwards huh. I guess that could create quite the burn if a whores knickers would go forwards and backwards a lot. Probably develop a rash right over the spot where her herpes began to inflame. eww
I still think he could have gotten around some of it by hitting high doses for short peroids of time like most people did back then. Constant use would have hurt him more.
Actually most bodybuilders stayed on steroids for years with ridiculous amounts of dianabol.
Dianabol is a 17-alpha-alkalyted steroids, in other words it goes through your liver but because it is toxic it also harms your liver, it is an oral steroid you would have to take a substance like Liv-52 to alongside with in case of damage.
Now because dianabol creates such a big spark in test levels the body decides it should level out the estrogen and the test levels which basically means you get a lot of water retention alongside with other side effects because of the increases estrogen.
The way to combat this is with anti-estrogen drugs(these werent available at Bruce's time either). So if bruce Lee was to take steroids it would have to be about 5 mg a day(tablets came in 25mg and were EXTREMELY potent, not like the generic crap they sell today) and he would still have a lot of water retention.
While dianabol is known for increasing bone strenght it can also weaken your joints as your weight goes up in incredible increments in a very short amount of time.
If Bruce Lee did take steroids and avoided gyno and water retention while safely while maintaining his bone strenght and agility then damn Bruce Lee is more of a legend than I ever imagined.
