  • Rick Tucci ( JKD in Jersey)

Has anyone ever heard of Rick Tucci in Princeton NJ. If so has anyone ever trained with him and how is he as an instructor. Please give me any detailed unbiased information on him to me.

I can only relate experiences from a former student who moved out west and started coming to my school. They liked him a lot, but I got the impression he focuses on thai boxing a lot (as opposed to Savate or Jun Fan kickboxing type stuff).

I would say he's definitely worth checking out. But remember, I have no experience with him personally, just relaying what I've been told.

From what i hear, he's a great Concepts instructor. My cousin and his wife trained under him for awhile and seemed to have nothing but good things to say. He has a pretty well rounded curriculum as well. BTW, my cousins got a pretty good base in Jun Fan type stuff training under him.

I've not met him personally. I've seen him on video, though, and he seems quite good. People I've talked to about him have also said he's very good. I don't know how is curriculum is structured (i.e.: where he puts his emphasis) ... but I would say he's definitely worth checking out :-)

        Regards, Mike

I've heard that he is good, but that he progresses you slowly through the "phases" and is also on the expensive side. I would check him out, but I would also look at Alex Wilkie's school in Bridgewater. Of course, I may have a biased opinion, because I've only heard from the guys who left Rick's to train with Alex.

            Rick Tucci

I have trained directly under Sifu Tucci for almost two years and I have been training at the Inosanto Academy for almost five years so I feel I'm qualified to give you some pretty good insight. Sifu Tucci and his cirriculum are TOP NOTCH and I can say that outside the state of California you probably wont find that many Instructors on his level. When we have Instructor camps here at the Inosanto Academy, out of at least 60 instructors from all over the globe, Guro Dan ALWAYS uses Sifu Tucci as his assistant. I don't know if that tells you anything but if you're curious about the class schedule check out http://www.pamausa.com.

Has anybody seen or heard anything about his Jun Fan videos from ESPY-TV? I was just wondering if they were any good.

I have a friend who trains with Tucci and likes the school alot. He is currently working towards becoming an instructor. I spoke with Tucci on the phone many years ago about training in Muay Thai and he was very friendly and gave me an invite to stop by if I was ever in the area.

The only thing I noticed, from what my friend told me, was that the different arts taught at the school are not intergrated very much. Now this might have changed since I last spoke to my friend, which was sometime ago.

                  I've Trained with him

Ive trained with him for a short time. Im not as qualified as Anthom is because im a beginner but when i was there i love it. You should see his wife hit the hell out of the pads. I also have some of his tapes. They seem more like instructional tapes rather than just for show, i like them alot. His trapping looks great once in class he did some traps and my eyes could'nt keep up all i could do was laugh. I just wish he would put more sparring classes in. My eyes have a hard time focusing at night so i cant make it to sparring class on wed., nights. If my paycheck is right im rejoining and doing it on sat., ill be doing the jkd/kali/silat. I just wish i didnt have to drive for a hour to get there hope i help out.

Listen to what athom says. That should tell you plenty... Rick teaches the arts the same way as Inosanto teaches them. He also has the most hours logged under Guro I the last couple of years. I have all his tapes, including the european ones and they are all shock full of info and drills.
