I really can't tell you much, because there doesn't seem to be much out there on him.

He is apparently certified to teach through Jerry Poteet (link here)

However, in May of this year he accessed the Internet from IP address 195.92.67.66 and asked Poteet's Wednesday Night Group (WNG) the Following question:

to the WNG, i was hoping you could give me some advice on gaining speed and power in single strikes[ KICKS-PUNCHES]as at the moment i dont have an instructor to guide me, and am just working on heavy bag,and also if you have any drills to develope speed and explosive power in footwork, i would be gratefull for any advice you could give me.

Which would lead me to believe that he is brand spankin' new to the JKD world.

The time, travel, and expense necessary for Simon to come to the USA and train with Poteet, or bring Poteet to England, would be prohibitive.

To be fair, the WNG Simon Alpin and the Simon Alpin certified by Poteet could be a different guy. I did a lookup using his IP to make sure that we were talking about the same guy. The IP address is registered to a machine in London, England and the ISP is a company/organization registered as "ENERGIS UK."

ENERGIS is a large company (I went to their website) that serves a huge number of organizations. It does not seem to provide direct to consumer services so it looks like Simon Alpin made the post to the WNG from work. Which doesn't tell us much except that he is a working stiff, like the rest of us, who couldn't support an extended amount of time to travel and train directly with Poteet.

He still could have found someone else, under Poteet, in England to train with. Which he probably did, but it is highly doubtful that he trained directly with Poteet for any considerable amount of time.

I know that might not help much, but perhaps it will help you generate some questions for Mr. Alpin.

    Good luck

You may want to re-read the post from DJColdfusion. You may want to learn JKD but you donot have to learn from this guy. If you decide to meet with him you should ask about his qualifications in MAs and specifically (online) training in JKD.

Im told by another JKD guy on the internet that Jerry Poteet did minimum sessions with BL and knew more about his Gung fu than the JKD parts. Is that true?
