  • JKD in South-East MI

Does anybody know of any JKD instructors in South-East Michigan? And what can you tell me about them? I'm beginning to look into a MA to try to get into/stay in shape, and learn some practical self-defence.

    Thanks in advance

I know this really has nothing to do with your post except for the mention of JKD, but I just started taking JKD Unlimited classes being taught by Burt Richardson and Herb Tanton and I got to say I'm really glad I started taking these classes. Very good teaching methods and classes.

I Know of one class in Canton that I was going to start going to but it is too far for me.

Yup. The guy in Canton is named Dave Hatch. The guy in Madison Heights is named Chris Malgeri. They are both certified by Guro Dan Inosanto, Pa Herman Suwanda (RIP), and maybe others that I'm unaware of. They are both good guys and good martial artists. I would highly recommend either of them. I don't have any contact info on Chris Malgeri, though ... but his school is public (he shares the space with a fencing club) and I would guess it's listed in the phone book.

          Later, Mike

Yes. I should have mentioned Linda ... oops. I only know them from seminars but I would have to agree ... they're a couple of the nicest people you'll ever meet and they're both good martial artists and (judging by the help they gave me at my first Guro Dan seminar) good instructors :-)

              Regards, Mike

Thanks for all the help! I'll check on the Madison Heights school, seeing as how it is the closest to me.
