  • Difference Between Kali JKD & Jun Fan JKD ?

Hello everyone I'm new to this. Still deciding on taking JKD classes @ KALI MARTIAL ARTS ACADEMY. Most likely will though. But if anyone of you know the difference between the 2 please share your knowledge with a newbie. Thank you for your time. I just want to be sure before I get myself into it.

    Hey newbie,

The "easy" answer is the Kali influence (along with Thai Boxing, Silat & BJJ or submission wrestling) is a concepts approach, (Dan Innosanto's influence)

A Jun Fan version might also be labled "original jkd"
Which is how the art looked like -1973

Some say concepts covers more than enough of the original flavor & then added a little extra.
Some say Original is the way BL intended.
Others say it would have continued to evolve.

You can find ENDLESS & I mean ENDLESS discussion on a variety of different discussion boards. Hours of alot of opinions.

I'm sure some of the fine folks here could add more.

    Hope that helps.

either one is better than nothing.

If you're curious, take one for a while and then switch to the other one and see what you like better. Or take them both at the same time! Take care not to become brainwashed by 'my style is the best' instructors, smile and nod and draw your own conclusions.

And then see what works for your particular needs and abilities.

Yes, I completly agree with shasan.
Make your own choices, forget the bullshit.

After quite a long absence away from training I just started training with a Richard Bustillo student & to quote Maxwell Smart "and loving it".

I didn't put alot of time into is this concepts, is it original, is it extra crispy?
I just decided for me Muay Thai is very combative,as is bjj (which is addressed in the concepts version)
