Best JKD school in OC Southern Cali?

Dude, whatever you do don't sign up at Orange County Kickboxing. Trust me, avoid that school at all cost. There are a number of good JKD places around, I know that Paul Vunak is in SJC in Orange County and his assistant Ryan Clark is in Lake Forrest and teaches nights. There are a few other good places nearby to train. You may want ot consider heading up to Torrance or LA to either the IMB Academy run by Richard Bustillo or the Inosanto Academy run by Dan I.-ED

Thanks for the advice GinSueDog... but why avoid them at all cost? I heard of them, and found out the students there are pretty happy with the training. However, I am looking for the best place to train. Could you give me some more info on Paul Vunak's place in SJC, (where is SJC?) or Ryan Clark's... do they have websites? Phone numbers?
Thanks bud.

If you're in Southern California and you don't make the trip to the Inosanto Academy, you should just be ashamed of yourself. I lived in Mission Viejo and drove to Guro Dan's classes every tue and thur evening, and the drive was more than worth it. He has a lot of really good people there outside his own immense knowledge, and the place is just a mecca for serious martial arts, so by all means, go see.
Paul lives in Capistrano, I believe, and conducts training sessions all the time. His home number, which he has published in Black Belt Magazine time and again, is:
(949) 248-8999. Give him a call. There's no one on earth that can make you real-world effective better than Paul, and there's no one that can give you a more complete picture of JKD than Dan Inosanto. You live right between them, so take advantage man!

Inosanto Academy...
Hey man,
If you can find the time to make it down a couple times a week to the academy, it's definitely worth it! For instance, if you could make it down on tuesday evenings, you can start off with an hour long session of nonstop sparring in the Jun Fan Kickboxing class and then spend the next hour sharpening technique in Guro's Muay Thai class. I'd definitely love having a new partner to spar with in the JF Kickboxing session. I'm tired of getting my a$$ beat repeatedly by Sifu Ray!

Guro Dan teaches the tue and thur classes for Phase three, or at least he did when I was there. I believe that's still the way it works. Ryan is a great guy, a heck of a martial artist, and a good teacher too, so training with him would also be a great place to start.

Ryan Clark
Chino,
I trained with Ryan for two straight days at his place in Costa Mesa and had a blast. He is a great instructor and genuinely interested in making you a better martial artist. He teaches small group classes on Tuesday/Thursday in his backyard and privates throughout the week.
His website is http://www.pfs-southerncal.com/
Let me know if you are going to train with him, would love to join.

I cannot recommend going to see Vunak enough. I trained with him 1996 in a 3 day IPTP session what a blast. It totally changed my outlook on fighting. My goal is to one day go back out and train with him again. Maybe by the end of 2001 if I am lucky.
Unless I am mistaken I believe Bahala Na you were there assisting Paul in my instruction.

Quite possible Decado. I was teaching with and for Paul from '95-'97. What's your real name? I'm too lazy to check a profile.Just Kidding. Keep me in touch on what you're up to, and I'll do the same. Actually, e-mail me at MikeBCuttingEdge@aol.com. I'd love to fill you in on some personal training stuff going on.
C-Ya,
Mike
