  • Help me everyone

    Alright what should i do. I want to grapple and study stand up defense. The Bjj im going to study at maxercise gym its the standup im having problems with. I could
    A) Study jkd/kali/silat on saturdays but there is no sparring and no level 2 classes when i progress on those days.
    B) I saw a class with a tang soo do guy who did pad work punches and kicks then they grappled then they sparred he doesnt stick to the tradition tang so do stuff. but they do it each class.
    c) Im about to look at a school that does kickboxing and boxing and you can set up sparring matches but they dont spar on a regular basis.
    What should i do i want the jkd/kali/silat because of the locks and weapons but i cant make it to sparring class. The tang so do guy spars each class. but they dont have the hand stuff i think i need for real self defense they punched but they did mostly kick even though they did grab each other and did takedowns while they sparred help me please give me your opinions.

    Hey Phillyman,

    If you want to learn to box and kick, take boxing and kickboxing. Plain and simple, boxers are the guys that understand and utilize the most efficient ways of punching, because they actually fight. A boxer that can't punch, is not a boxer. Punch in a fight I mean.

      Chad's right. You just have to get in and find the absolute best guys in the ranges you hope to improve. Where exactly do you live, and maybe I know somebody out there who you can hook up with to train. JKD is a big, big family, my friend, and I know a lot of PFS (Vunak lineage) and Inosanto Academy people who can maybe give you some strong training. Let me know.
