Just my opinion but I have to agree with you. The guy doesnt really have any credentials to speak of. It just said he has trained in a variety of martial arts, doesnt say he has any certs or anything though. That doesnt mean he isnt a good instructor, but generally speaking it does.

It sort of Funny i mean it does list some of there credtials on the site if you look through it but there pics are bad they just look very unprofessional. But hey they could be very talented instructers but from a business stand piont they need to work on how they are portraying there business and themselves on a whole but thats my opinion . Oh and if they are close to you i would just check it out anyway try a class or two you will be able to spot if they are phonies.

I'd be cautious, when you go (and you should try out a class or two) ask specifically about who they've trained with and certified under. If you're there and you get the slightest wiff of "mcdojo" just bounce. One thing I hate is if they try to do a pressure sale, like come in for a free class and then you get there. All of sudden its like well if you sign up today then you get this price, but come tommorrow or an hour later and the price is higher - that's f'ing mcdojo hard sale tactic. The other option is if you found a better school, keep searching and try out a bunch before committing. Also, just because someone is a good figher/martial artist doesn't mean they are a good instructor - so make sure the guy is a good communicator.

I once did an intro lesson at a pretty good grapelling school,I think the head guy was a sport jui-jitsu guy, he listed (on a pamphlet on his door a win at a Rickson Garcie touranament ,I think it was some national or international title but then the guy also lsited his entire point fighting career LOL. I lost all respect for him after seeing that, I have a whole closet full of meaningless point "fighting" titles. If it aint full-contact fighting it's meaningless. The guy's pamphlet also said he began western boxing training 1982, when he probably was like 10, but he never had any amature or pro boxing fights. What a load of bs. When looking for a school keep your hand on your wallet.

you're going to judge a man's legitimacy on the appearance of his web page? I found the content rather informative. Go and check out him and his guys and more importantly his guys. But his credentials are there.

after researching, I'd look elsewhere. What cities are you close to? Tampa bay? West Palm Beach? etc?

I agree i would not base my opinion on his website i would for sure check it out but Im also stating thats its not a very good website but thats not really all that important if he is a good instructer but from a business piont its important.

Man, everyone there is extremely young. I've never seen that many people teaching JKD and being that age. If what they say on the site is true, than my hats off, because that's just flat out amazing. But on the other hand, because of their age, well, i dunno. Go to the school, and ask questions. There's no better help than self-help, and that's obviously what's needed here.

                      perhaps

most frauds out their ussualy say they can teach jeet kune do tae kwon do and hapkido or some crap that doesnt even fit well together, and most the time if they arent cradentiald they woudlnt know the terms "jun fan gung fu" or "jun fan/jeet kune do" but since they do, and they also say they teacht he filipino martial arts, my guess is somewhere along the line theve run into someone somewhere that knows of Dan. Id call them and ask if they are certified under Dan before i jumped to any conclusions

Didn't look through the whole site. He's got some pics there of some good instructors. Had the opportunity to train at Sifu Dwight Woods' school before.
Very knowledgable instructor and a really nice individual.

Only thing though was the pics when they were "sparring" with shinai...

I don't know if they are claiming to know kendo, but...

My girlfriend is a second degree black belt in Kendo, and the pics I saw with the shinai training were not correct in any way. At least for kendo...

Then again, still pics aren't good for making judgment calls.
The guy does list his certifications on his bio page.

                              Eh, I take it back.

It's stupid to judge by the website (though it could be better)

It's hard starting out as an instructor. Believe me I know.
If he has an actual instructorship certification given to him by a reputable body in the Jeet Kune Do community, that's all that should matter. Give em the benefit of the doubt.

(the "apprentice instructorships," etc. etc. should not be counted. If it were me I wouldn't even include em in the bio.)

But if he's got legit certification to teach what he's teaching by a legit JKD instructor. Then he's a JKD instructor.
                              Good for him.
