Mike - I am in no way upset, mad, or offended at anyone, but those are good words.
That will be the last word for me (concerning this) since we are moving away from the original post.

I guess most of us want to feel secure no matter what the situation is. One teacher talked about this on a camp last summer. We practise cause we want to be sure that we can handle any situation. This applies to us guys especially (testosterone and all that). The same teacher told me that trying too hard to get stronger, better etc. can in fact slow one's progress down. That's probably because it was a "internal" camp (we did mostly taichi) and staying relaxed is everythig when it comes to internal stuff.
Anyways. I try to practise just for the fun of it all. There ain't too many things in life where it's just about your own body (and of course some times about using your body to break another body). But of course things like trying to look good and aquiring an image of being tuff is there on the backround (sadly so)

I....just came across this post. I guess most of you don't live the kind of life we do here. If you 18-20 and you're on your own, you're working 60+ hours a week at a factory and going to school part time. To break even.

Dunno about you guys but I have a REALLY short fuse nowadays. It helps to know how to fight.

I don't know bout y'all, but I hunt terrorists in a big sandbox for a living. It's hard to keep up any kind of training, sides CQB, over here, but the improved reflexes come in handy from time to time - to bad I can't dodge bullets. Not everyone fights for a living, but I guess being a soldier is close enough for me.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and suggest that clearing buildings with real bullets and bad guys in them counts more than most as 'martial arts'.

                  Also, thank you.

i never start fights, but i must admit this, i like fighting, i liek the challenge, man against man, or man against beast whatever the opponent, it matters not,
