  • Review of: ERIK PAULSON’S CSW SEMINAR-Tape 2

    Hi,

Received this tape from ErikPaulson.com last week. This is usually a two-tape set, but Erik was kind enough to split up the set. He charged me a total of $43 (included s&h). It took three weeks from the time I mailed off the Money Order till I received the tape. Due to the holidays, mail was extremely slow... it took a week each way for the Priority Mail... so Erik turned my order around in a week.

The tape is professionally produced with Titles and soundtrack between the segments. With a fair to good picture quality.

The value of a tape is usually associated with how much it can teach you. If you already know the material, it will have less value for you. The reason for my purchase of this tape was my lack of knowledge of the standing clinch game. JACKPOT!!! This tape was just what I was looking for! A nice progression that shows you how to train the standing clinch. The tape was the second day of a seminar by Erik at the Lynx Academy. No unneccessary repetition of technique... just alot of material. The first portion was the standing clinch with the second working from takedowns to the ground. The tape ran 82 minutes.

An excellent tape. Both #1 and 2 are excellent tapes and if you can only get two tapes this year that will cover all ranges, these two will do you nicely. Just remember that aside from watching, YOU HAVE TO DO!!! Seriously though, this is an excellent tape set that you can watch, stop and work on something for a week, than watch again. Dwayne/quietanswer-Happy New Year, BTW, you said you guys don't have an actual class, this is an excellent tape, IMO.

Personally, one of my favorites is the Mount tape though.

Another thing I was going to write.... ultimately the real test of how much value a tape has, is how it effects your training. If you just watch and say cool... nice technique, but never train the material... how much did you really benefit? ...Same holds true for seminars! Last week my training partner and I watched the tape.. paused... practiced... paused.. practiced..... And... I plan on integrating the material into my training. I feel this tape will definintely impact my training & strengthen my fight game.

        Overview?

        Hi Chad,

Since I liked the second seminar tape so much... I was thinking about getting the first. Can you give a basic overview?

        Thanks!

Hey Kevin, give me a day or so for a step by step description. So much info that I don't think I could justifiably break it down without watching it one more time. I'll post it here in a lil' bit though.

            Erik's Mount Tape

Could someone please describe Paulson's MOUNT tape and also the Vale Tudo tape?

            Much appreciated in advance!

Kevin, one of my training partners has the tapes, and as soon as he returns it to me, I'll do a review here. But if you like the second tape, you should like the first.

Twisted Up, The mount tape is my favorite. He covers the top mount and cross mount(or side mount...but he doesn't call it this, he calls the side mount if he mounts a guy that turns to his side) and he covers how to get from one to the other. Eric shows some concepts of some moves and then proceeds to demonstrate his endless knowledge of it all. One thing that I enjoyed in the tape was his students. They show different training methods, grappling sumbrada, numerado, positional flowing. One of my top five favorites.

Haven't seen the Vale Tudo tapes yet, though.

I ordered both seminar tapes 3 or 4 days ago, I hope I get them fast. I'll post a review on tape 1 also if I get it soon.

Pancrase, you should really enjoy this tape. If you get it before I get mine back, you can post the review...I hate posting detailed video reviews, I wouldn't do it any justice. Let us know when you get it.

                    Paulson

                    Guys,

Erik's seminar tapes look like a real bargain!

I have the funds to purhase something from him and I'm trying to decide on which to get.

If you guys like the seminar tapes, maybe that's what I should do.

I tried emailing him but he's pretty busy I'm sure and hasn't answered back yet.

                    Any advice?

                    Thanks!
                    John

I'd get all of them if I had the funds for it. I've seen both seminar tapes, the mount tape, and killer leg locks #1. What tapes have the rest of you seen. I would actually advise the killer leg locks to be an advanced tape, but that is just my opinion. I did learn alot from those tapes, but I still think it depends on ones ground skills. Any other opinions, not necessarily reviews, of any of Eric's other tapes? Like I stated above, I feel that Eric's seminar tapes are excellent tapes to have if you could only get one set for the year, they cover all the ranges and alot of different drills.

                        Decisions, decisions...

I have only seen the second seminar tape, but I think that Chad is right on in recommending them.

I'm thinking about getting the Vale Tudo tape or the Takedown tape.... anybody have any input on these?

                          Paulson

One thing for sure, you can't go wrong getting ANY of Erik's tapes (if they're all like the two I have).

I have the Garage Private and Killer Leg Locks 1.

I want more regarding clinch work and vale tudo, so the choice would SEEM obvious.

I'm just going to wait for everyone's opinions to come in. You guys are the REAL decision makers! Your opinions are what have led me to get the things I have now.

The seminar tapes seem like a good bargain. Maybe that's the way I'll go.

                          Thanks guys!
