Famous Karate Kid quote....
Daniel: Hey, what kind of belt do you have?
Miyagi: Canvas. JC Penney, 3.98; You like?
Daniel: [laughs] No, I meant...
Miyagi: In Okinawa, belt mean no need rope to hold up pants.
Miyagi: [laughs; then, seriously] Daniel-san,
Miyagi: [he taps his head] Karate here.
Miyagi: [he taps his heart] Karate here.
Miyagi: [points to his belt] Karate never here. Understand?

first lesson in the martial arts, its not the system, its the man in the system.
Bruce lee or kano or Helio would have made any art look impressive...just like rosie o donnel or pee wee herman could make any art look useless...its the person, not the art.
ANY art can get you killed if YOU arent "wired" to defend yourself.

I dunno. I wouldn't want to run into Pee Wee Herman in a dark alley. Or worse yet, a dark movie theatre.

karate comes from shaolin if you search its roots all japanese systems come from china, just like all of the japanese weapons they are decended from earlyer chinese versions,
chinese combat style Vs karate, neither one is better, both are useless and both are very effective, depends on who is teaching and who is learning,
peace.
