I don't know how many people in here also read the Mixed & BJJ forum, but I just posted something on there asking for opinions. Since I've decided to add JKD to the mix, I thought I'd ask here as well.
I'm trying to pick a martial art to join. I can only choose one, and have very limited experience. After getting suggestions from other people, I'm looking into Wing Chun Kung Fu, Okinawan Karate, and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. I have since decided to add JKD into the possibilities as well. So, does anyone have any suggestions on which I should take and why? My main concern is self-defense, with physical fitness as a secondary.
A little background, I'm small framed and light. I tore a tendon in my back twice, and even though its healed, I'm currently in physical therapy in order to get the spasm out, and to rebuild the strength in my back after a year of inactivity. Obviously, I'm concerned about ripping it again. Though I'm going to ask my doctor before I actually do anything, its still something to keep an eye on.
So, can anyone help me out? What could work for me?
