The one inch punch Bruce Lee demonstrates in the video is exactly that--a demonstration. Out in the street, one does not ask the opponent to stand calmly while you place your fist next to their sternum, you throw the punch from whatever opening is available.
It's a short range punch that uses explosive transfer of weight from the back foot to the fist and requires virtually no wind up, thereby reducing your visible intent to your opponent.
I'm curious if anyone here has actually experienced it, or has learned the mechanics of the punch. I've been on the recieving end of this punch, and I assure you it's not fun.
Anyone who spends enough time training with a good Wing Chun or JKD teacher can learn this punch. It's one of those things that needs to be felt to be believed.
Is it mystical or magical? Definitely not, just sound body mechanics at work.
