Yes but would it matter what I thought? He is an authentic second generation Jun Fan Gung Fu/Jeet Kune Do instructor.

      You want to know OK

Its to complex no simplifications. Unrealistic. they act like they are fighting Still objects. To many moves, when one simple one can be aplied. They look like amatures. No realism whats so ever. They seem to be promoting a look rather than what is actual. If you do go spar one of them. Or ask to see them spar. I suggest you spar. If they KIck your butt. Pay them. If you want to wast your time and money then go. I dont see any real combat there. Have fun promoting what bruce lee Tried to stay away from. Take care

What a rock! Have you ever heard of Bud Thompson? He was fighting before you were born... That guy is old school! Don't go there with that attitude unless you enjoy pain...

          Funny

Kali, what? That is to complex for something bruce talked about. All those complications may look intimidating but they are nothing. I dont care how many years someone was fighting. I met plenty who had more experience but knew very little. I met thi sguy who was a Jiujitsu expert. He shown me all his moves. Then HE had years of training in wing chung. Then Kickboking, then few other styles he mentioned. I met his Wing chung instructor. Nice guy. But him he just talked alot, like he seen it all, all of the experience filled his head with cockyness. Ask yourself how long the figt lasted. Anyway. Experience is nothing, all those complicating moves are nothing of what bruce actually was thinking of. Everybody talks about JKD being a style and all of these DAN inosanto promoters who go around with KAli sticks talking about JKD. What is that seriously? I dont have dislike for any of them but seriously what is that? All those complications put into this supposed style of JKD is silly, and completely makes bruce look completely misunderstood. When all of these people promote themselves. I dont know what JKD is but it's obvious what it is not. IF you have something interesting to say say it. Otherwise stick to what you know. I dont like to discuss knowledge. Take care

Well a yo-yo might seem really complicated to some people, to others it's child's play...

You stick with the kick 'em in the nuts, poke 'em in the eye and run JKD let others decide for themselves what the art can be.

You seem to think Dan and Bud are egotistical self promoting snake oil salesmen... as opposed to your idea of "real" JKD.

              Give me a break.

Can you tell what you think of this school?

It doesn't matter what I think or what some "JKD guy" (from Arizona) thinks about it...

What do you think about it?

A friend of mine trained with Bud for a couple years back in the mid 90's. I don't know how much has changed since then with his school. I do know that after the couple years of training with Bud he knew all kinds of pretty movements with his sticks. That is about all. I would do some light sparring with him and he would get a little pissed because he wasn't able to pull off anything he was shown during training. He had no stand up and they never worked clintch or ground. Maybe things have changed since then.
As far as stick work goes(or anything for that matter), the fancier you get, the less likely you will pull it off. Check out a Dog Brothers gathering to see what I mean.

Well...If your friend is not able to execute what he was being taught, maybe he should train harder and understand what he was shown...All of those things that you say he lacks. I'm willing to show you other wise... LOL(As far as stick work goes(or anything for that matter), the fancier you get, the less likely you will pull it off. Check out a Dog Brothers gathering to see what I mean)First off my first jkd/kali instructor is an original Dog Brother Sifu Balluff, does not look like shit when he fights swinging his stick in 2 basic lines because he lacks the skill to pull of all of the other things he was taught. If that stuff did not work in a fight it would not still be around as a system.Or we would all be kali masters if all you had to do is swing a stick in a untrained/undisciplined manner... No matter that martial art you practice its an art which means its a science. It should be performed as such,But if you would like to question the skill of my teacher and his students I will be willing to help change your mind about what my school does and does not do.
