Hey I'm not tring to be disrepectfull... but I am traditional and will defend the honor of my school... but on another notes what do you know of Pendekar Paul de Thouars(As Pendekar de Thouars says "Strength is garbage. Speed is garbage. Timing is everything."

You don't need to study JKD to know that action is faster than reaction...

You must be some kind of fighter... Thanks for your opinion.)
I study Buki negara at the PDT maybe we know each other ^^

"But if you would like to question the skill of my teacher and his students I will be willing to help change your mind about what my school does and does not do."

#1- Who is questioning the skill of anyone here? If you read my post you will see that I posted an observation. I also posted that things may have changed since then. I was not leaning one way or another, just stating what I was witness to.
#2- If you want to fight me then that is funny. You don't know anything about me. You are very defensive about a simple observation I made. However, if you truly would like to show me what you learn at Kali Academy I would be happy to meet you and do some light sparring. I am always up for learning more. I live in Pico Rivera, maybe we could meet somewhere and trade some knowledge. Like I said, I always love learning new things. Shoot me an email at ugotrocked@yahoo.com. I look forward to hearing from you.

I am not a student of any particular school or style. (if you're responding to my post) There are lots of folks that don't know much about silat and I am one of them... My study is mostly academic...I do not know any of his students personally and I have never met Pendakar de Thouars. Not that I wouldn't like to! You are fortunate to train in his style.

No worries, I just laugh at all the empty threats made online. But if it's a misunderstanding then so be it. I don't do Kali, I am more of a self preservation guy. MMA for the street, some street boxing, clintch work and bjj/sub wrestling for ground.. though I must admit my ground is lacking. I have friends who are involved with Dog Brothers stuff but it never caught my eye to much. Do you guys do hand to hand stuff?

Hell ya we do. The one think that I like most about Lucay kali is its emtpy hand stuff... It translates so easily between weapon and hand... My ground game is not that strong either ^^ but that is what footwork and understanding ranges are about... IF you like come by some time. We can change ground for hands.. I can do some simple things on ground but If I had to get in to a fight that required me to go ground...may not turn out that good for me lol.

Why is that funny? If a man three stone heavier than you was gound and pounding you trust me you won't laugh.

Yes, it is. That's why you would (should) never LIMIT yourself to a particular range of combat. Or horizontal Vs. Vertical. Every cop knows the benifits of limited mobility, that's why they want dangerous or potentially dangerous suspects face down on the deck.

THAT'S where I want somebody that intends ME harm. Isn't that the goal of the stand up game? To put the other guy down?

Just because a JKD man is down doesn't (shouldn't) mean he's out. Right?

Larry Hartsell has a couple of (JKD) books out that he wrote with Tim Tackett that include grappling, not just the vertical variety.

Anyway, I started with Judo so I kinda like the gravity assisted impacts with terrain, hold downs, chokes and limb destructions...

I would agree with you TanTo1 a true jkd guy should not be done on the ground.. but also if you know the guy is bigger and stronger you might want to stop the whole ground fight all together. like throw low timed kicks use much hands to keep the distance and have good footwork...

You stick with the kick 'em in the nuts, poke 'em in the eye and run JKD let others decide for themselves what the art can be.

You seem to think Dan and Bud are egotistical self promoting snake oil salesmen... as opposed to your idea of "real" JKD.

                          Give me a break.
Ask yourself this question. How can bruce elect Dan to promote JKD If Bruce died so unexpectedly. I thought taky kimura was the senior. Interesting?
Lets look at styles what are they. A person takes a piece of something and says I discovered it it is mine. There are only so many ways you can twist a certain body part and pull it of use it. And some guy from japan china etc says hey I havent seen this before lets use it, so he implements it in His style. No someone says hey I knew that. Its obvious you should know that it is your body using it to a full potential will bring out more possibilities thus eradicating style. Now the man from China traditional is mad he sticks to what he created and now he is proud of his country and who he is, he thinks that what he created is somehow not anyone elses. But you have hands just like me you have feet just like me we share something in common. How can that what you say is true? Seriously is there really such a thing as as style? think about it? i dont deal in opinions so spare me the conversation if you have some.

It doesn't matter what I think or what some "JKD guy" (from Arizona) thinks about it...

What do you think about it?
