What JKD will teach you is that it's up to YOU to make yourself a better fighter.

That said, the whole point of JKD is funtionality.

Check out Paul Vunak (Progressive Fighting Systems) http://fighting.net , Matt Thornton (Straightblast Gym) http://www.straightblastgym.com , and Demi Barbito (Center for Self Preservation Training) http://www.demibarbito.com for JKD specifically oriented for street fighting.

    EDIT: FunCtionality! FunCtionality!

JKD gives you the framework, the training methods, and (dare I say) the concepts to be a good fighter. The important thing to remember is that it is always the individual fighter that wins or loses fights, not the style or system.

It's up to you to develop your attributes, and once you absorb the principles behind JKD, to do your own research, put in your own "flight time". You'll understand once you've been in the system for a while.

Testbuggie. JKD will better equip you than most martial arts. MOST, not all. The streetfight is not a scenario that usually allows for squaring off in a "fair fight". It is violent and a complete surprise to you. Awareness, preparedness, and the will to hit first, hard, and frequently is what you need. Mindset dictates the outcome for most of these situations. Check out Marc "Animal" MacYoung's writings on streetfighting.
Learn to fight. Always consider your opponent to be better and sneakier than you. Always assume that he is preparing to completely annihilate you!
              Train hard.

                Depends on YOU...

JKD is useful for any kind of fighting. However, Jeet Kune Do by itself gives you no fighting abilities. JKD is a philosophy not a style. It is up to you to incorperate what is useful for you and reject what is useless for you and make yourself into a well-rounded fighter.

congratulations, you have successfully quoted Bruce Lee

to me, the tao of JKD is alot like a martial arts bible. It's a bunch of strategys and ways to improves yourself physically and mentally...it shows you what NOT to do.. This is much like the Art Of War.It's book full of 1000+ years old of military stratagems, yet it is used for buisness management today.

In other word, some people might take JKD concepts to improve their fighting abilities on the street or whatever..I use JKD to improve my body as well as my mind.

white devil, did you read Commentaries on the Martial Way? if not, get it, it has a lot of stuff not in Tao of JKD, contains a lot more of Bruce's realistic approach to fighting..
