  • question about JKD!

are there JKD tourneys? if so how are they run? are there any fighters in them here, if these are entry level ?'s please forgive me, I know little about the style, other than it is bruce lee's brainchild!

well, in a super simplified sort of way, JKD is the exact same as 'cross-training', training in different arts and making them work for what your doing, so one might say that modern MMA is all Jeet Kune Do. Most people don't understand JKD and think of it as a specific style, but is MMA a specific style? no, JKD and MMA are extremely similar.

jeet kune do could be called MMA's predessesor and Bruce Lee could be considered the father of MMA. he believed in integrated things to become better as a whole. i've never heard of JKD tournaments.

Bill Holland, a JKD instructor based in Huntington Beach, California, has been organizing the JKD Fighting Challenge. This tournament pits JKD practitioners against each other and is organized in three 2 minute rounds. The first two are strictly JKD, while the third involves grappling. The next one is scheduled for September 30 in Orange County.
