  • Vunak breaks with PFS?

In 2006 he began to promote his DEFCON ("Defensive Conditions")/Executive PFS system, which promised to add more Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and awareness-based self-defense strategies to PFS. As of August 25, 2006, however, Paul Vunak is no longer affiliated with PFS Video or DEFCON, and has parted ways with his senior instructor Bruce Corrigan. In fact, a notice on his website calls for a boycott of all PFS videos. He continues to promote the Executive PFS system.
Anyone know what's up with this?

Hey Nutz, I had read somewhere back around July that Vunak was changing his entire association. I read that he was now only going to have 50 instructors under him in his association. It also talked about his prices going up on pretty much everything. I will find where I read that at and send you a private with all the info.

I suspected as much. I think it was his Executive PFS program that he's putting all his time into. $2500 to become an instructor plus $100/month to maintain "membership" in E-PFS.

Because you pay big money to belong, doesn't mean its the best and/or for the students interest!

I agree Sifu McNabney which is why I did not say that. There is no way I could ever afford that and would not want to pay that kind of money even if I had it.

I don't know. There could be an element here of taking peoples money to make them instructors in one system..... and then cutting and running from the organisation so that these people can no longer claim an affiliation with this big name. Unless, of course, they requalify paying again....but with bigger fees.

Mike, I think you're great. And it is testanment to your character that you are remaining loyal to your friend.

But he doesn't half know how to put big question marks over his own name.

I don't really know what is happenening, but I did read his calls to boycott PFS videos.

I have no strong feelings about him one way or the other, but there's always lots of smoke coming from his camp.

                No offence intended!

What's that saying? Bad publicity is still good publicity?

On his website at the moment, the thread saying to boycott PFS video has been removed. However at the bottom of the page, below his copyright statement,he has this."Fighting.net and PFS are NOT affiliated with PFS video and/or PaulVunak.com".I believe that both of those websites are under Don Wasser's control.

It has been awhile since that announcement was made, but if memory serves the deal with the break is pretty straight forward. PFS Video released a (or a few) new video(s) that had Vu's name on them that did not feature his material nor was he in except for a brief cut in just to market the films. This of course is my shakey memory but that is the gist of what I recall reading. I will ask TC next we talk.
