I didnt have time to read the whole thread so, if this has been said before, excuse me.

I still think that training the tactics of knife fighting is inportant even if you won't ever "duel" someone with a knife. It trains attributes the will help you speed up your body movement and hand speed.

Example: If you have ever tried to knife spar someone your body and mind will automatically react faster just because there is a weapon (blunt weapon obviously) in you opponents hand.

If training the knife is so irrelevent then i suppose we should all drop training with sticks too.

Even though you would never square off with someone in a stick/knife fight you should train the attributes to help turbo charge youe reflexes and body movement. And what if you were attacked you could grab a ice scraper, or tree branch or anything and be able to use it effectively.

    Just my 2 cents.

PS. I hope you find somewhere to train, it willbe helpful to you.

That emo rocker would've been somebody I wouldn't want to mess with. He was such a hardcore knife fighter he stabbed himself TWICE in the heart.

Emo kids shouldn't play with knives.

If you're posting a thread asking if there's a way to train with knives by yourself...I wouldn't trust you alone with a knife either.

the best thing you can do by yourself is practice deploying the blade you carry. get used to keeping it in the same place all the time, and get used to taking it out and having it ready over and over again from a multitude of positions like sitting, standing, squatting, on your back, etc. get the movement of opening the blade deeply ingrained in your muscle memory so the chance of you fumbling around for something you cant find in your moment of need is reduced as much as possible.

the kind of blade you carry matters. is it a pocket knife, or fixed blade with a sheath? does it have a wave feature?

btw, i didnt say you shouldnt train for "knife fights", im just saying its not the same as getting stabbed when you least expect it.
