That sounds like a superb seminar Shawn, Mr Assli is incredible. I have only seen him teach once, it was just awesome.

I'm many thousands of miles away but I can't recommend enough that anyone who can make it does so. All the best with the event.

Thanks Mike, sorry you are too far away to make it.

Quick correction, I got the dates wrong. The dates are Saturday Feb 2ND & Sunday Feb 3RD.

If you check out the gallery section of our website you can see pictures from past seminars we've hosted him for.

I am very fortunate to be able to train with Prof. Assli on a weekly basis. For anyone close enough to attend, I would highly recommend it. His kicks, footwork and ability to hit on the move are awesome!

Seminar went off smoothly and we had a great time. Salem covered material from Savate (of course), Kali, Silat, and Jun Fan Gung Fu. He did a short section on street savate and has a new video coming out soon exploring more of this material - looking forward to seeing it.

We had a few out of towners join us - Tom Macaluso from Buffalo, Alex Gomm from Thunderbay, and Lance Cross' Kenpo crew from Wallaceburg all made the trip in. We were also pleased to have some of the JKD Family group from Toronto take part in the seminar. Makoto's support was much appreciated.

A big thank you to Warren of www.tkmt.ca for allowing us use of his fantastic gym space over the weekend.

I hope we'll see you all back for the next one!

            Shawn

For anyone in the southern California area that's interested, Nicolas Saignac will be teaching a savate seminar at Erik Paulson's gym on Sunday, March 2nd from noon to 4:30pm. The cost is $50.00.

                Hey JJ,

Does Erik still teach out of the back of Orange County Fight Factory? Thats where he was the last time I came over, or has he set up his own place now?

                Thanks

Hey Michael, how're you? Hope all is well in the UK brother. Erik opened a school with this guy Freddie in I believe it's Fullerton. I haven't been there, yet. This savate seminar with Nic will be my first outting to it. A ton of people have told me that it's very nice and well equipped. The address and phone number are on his website, though. Peace, J~

                    Hey J, thanks.

I'm getting better my friend, and the UK is COLD!

Its great that Erik has opened a school, I hope he is enjoying every success. I hope all is well with you too, I am over at The Academy later in the year, it would be great to hook up.

Hope you enjoy the seminar brother, take care

                    Michael

As a follow up on the seminar I've posted a couple of short clips on YouTube.

This is a bit where Salem demonstrated a throw from street Savate

and one where he shows how to control your opponent with your legs when on the ground

Enjoy the videos and music you love, upload original content, and share it all with friends, family, and the world on YouTube.

and finally just a few seconds of Scott and I playing with a few Savate kicking combinations back and forth

The seminar went smoothly and I'm confident everyone that attended had a great time and came away with some new ideas to explore. Salem may be back in September, and will certainly be back next year.
