Bruce Lee was the first true Mixed Martial Artist. Anderson got some pounds on him. Bruce is just as dangerous but Anderson would have weight and training in MMA advantage. Unless it is the old fashion to the death match anderson would most likely win if ti is under MMA rules.
I apologize ahead of time for contributing to a "Bruce vs." thread in any way, but....Bruce wouldn't be in Silva's weight class, would he? He walked around at 135-146, wouldn't he have been fighting Bantamweight or Flyweight in WEC?
Bruce Lee was the first true Mixed Martial Artist. .......
Wrong!
There are so many well blended arts I don't know where to begin. (Kajukenbo?) We could go back to Pentjak Silat when tribal warfare styles borrowed from the victorious tribes and chinese gung fu...
Or I could just blast ya with my uncle mixed boxing and wrestling back in the late 1950's...
Bruce may be the most well known but he was not the first.

Kinetic Energy = 1/2 mass x Veloticy ^2
Which means someone who is 2 times as fast as his opponent will hit 4 times as hard. I don't know much about this Anderson guy, but Lee was pretty damn fast.

hmm not too sure about that
In 1898, Edward William Barton-Wright, a British engineer who had been building railways in Japan, returned to England and announced the formation of a "New Art of Self Defence".[1] This art, he claimed, combined the best elements of a range of fighting styles into a unified whole, which he had named Bartitsu. The word was a portmanteau of his own surname and of "Ju jitsu".[2]
As detailed in a series of articles Barton-Wright produced for Pearson's Magazine between 1899 and 1904, Bartitsu was largely drawn from the Shinden Fudo, Tenjin-Shinyo, Fusen and Daito Ryu schools of koryu ("classical") jujutsu and from Kodokan judo. As it became established in London, the art expanded to incorporate combat techniques from British boxing, Swiss schwingen, French savate, and a defensive stick fighting style that had been developed by Professeur Pierre Vigny of Switzerland as well as a comprehensive physical culture training system.
Pankration is a sport introduced in the Greek Olympic games in 648 BC.
Pankration, as practiced in the ancient world, combined elements of both boxing (pygme/pygmachia) and wrestling (pale) to create a broad fighting sport similar to today's mixed martial arts. A match was won by submission of the opponent or if the opponent was incapacitated.
And as Merikan
Mixed style contests such as boxing vs. jujutsu were popular entertainment throughout Europe, Japan and the Pacific Rim during the early 1900s. In Japan these contests were known as Merikan, from the Japanese slang for "American [fighting]". Merikan contests were fought under a variety of rules including points decision, best of three throws or knockdowns, and victory via knockout or submission.
MMA and mixing of styles has been going on for hundreds of years already. What Bruce did was bring it into the mainstream again, which it used to be. And he did this well by attaching a philosophy to it. One that made sense and was easy to understand and of course, most importantly, works.
He brought back to life what had gone before and what was going on elsewhere in the world. He did that very well.
