  • For Burton Q's about Joe Simonent

    This is for Burton

I've read where you and Joe have been doing seminars together. I'm curious about how he teaches the Jurus of Serak as compared to the way the Victor De Thouars teaches them. Why are they so diffrent, I'm not talking a few diffrences, I'm talking major diffrences. Also, by watching his silat tapes I gathered that Mr. Simonent didn't think highly of "JKD guys". Like I said, Burton, just curious.

        Hi Fellas,
I have been out of town (way out of town!). I logged 30,000 air miles in 3 weeks, but the training went very well.
Ern-Dog, I have not done any seminars with Joseph Simonet yet, with the upcoming camp being the first. Therefore, I have no first hand info for you. I am looking forward to the camp, as it should be a good experience for everyone.

Jeyal - Yes the videos contain a good amount of material (if you're a beginner). He breaks down the first 6 jurus of Serak (his version anyway) and then shows some combat and weapon applications for them.

Burton - First of all, thank you for the reply. I am very curious about the nature of the diffrences between the jurus he teaches and the jurus that are taught by De Thouars / Inosanto etc. I thought you might have seen Simonet's two tape set, and had gotten a glimpse of his version of the first six jurus. If you get a chance check it out and pass on the info about where the diffrences might come from. Again, thanks for your time.
