[QUOTE=Justthefacts;334375]John: If you had read my post instead of simply reacting to my OPINION, you would have noticed that I defined that period of Bruce Lee's life as the SEATTLE ERA. Sifu Strong trained with Bruce Lee from 1960-1963. Sifu Jesse Glover trained with Bruce Lee from 1959-1964. In my OPINION, Patrick Strong has taken Bruce Lee's core principles to another level.

Justthefacts, no I’m not reacting to your post.... I'm getting you to clarify your post.... There is a difference and most important I'm helping you with a FACT.... Do you train, communicate, hang out and are friends with Patrick Strong or Jesse Glover? Hear is another FACT, Jesse Glover doesn't like to be called SIFU.... How do I know? Because we are friends and I train with him as much as possible.... Patrick Strong is a friend as well; we have some interesting talks for hours at a time....

        Opinions

        SightPress: You're welcome.

John: I've never had the pleasure of training with either Patrick Strong or Jesse Glover. You're extremely fortunate to have done so. I boxed for about 15 years and dabbled in some Kenpo prior to settling down and raising a family. I've never met Sugar Ray Leonard, but I certainly feel that I have the right to an opinion about his skill level and his place in boxing history. I also feel that people who have never boxed have that same right. I find it interesting that you know Patrick Strong, yet didn't seem the least bit fazed by Michael's opinion of Sifu Strong's presentation of JKD.

John is never phased by my point of view, he knows it well and I'm sure he just shrugs it off. We agree to disagree.

Although John and I don't see eye to eye, I respect his opinions. I like that he is straight and stands by what he says, and most of all that his opinions come from many years of personal experience.

I guess you are not hearing me correctly..... This isn't about "my Dad your Dad" bullshit.... Opinions are one thingy, but when you include not "FACTS" in your post, I'm just trying to clarify what is being said by you.... You know, so we all get "Just-The-Facts" straight..... Nothing more, nothing less...

Michael is a cool person that I respect who has paid his dues and he is entitled to his own opinion, just as you or me.... But we all are not entitled to put shit out there in our opinions that aren’t FACTS! That’s where the line is crossed, ya know and where I'm coming from...

                Perspective

"I guess you are not hearing me correctly..... This isn't about "my Dad your Dad" bullshit...."

You brought forth this assertion, not me.

"Opinions are one thingy, but when you include not "FACTS" in your post"

Sans my reference to Jesse Glover as "Sifu," where exactly did I present something that was not factual?

"I'm just trying to clarify what is being said by you...."

I attempted to provide a clarification in my prior post, but clearly that attempt was unsuccessful.

"But we all are not entitled to put shit out there in our opinions that aren't FACTS! That's where the line is crossed"

Well, it's obvious that you are selective about who can "put shit out there" and who can't. Michael posted erroneous information about the content presented in Patrick Strong's DVD set. I listed the title of each DVD, put the nature of the DVD trailer into its proper context, and described the content of each DVD. It begs the question, who has crossed the line?

                    Training Experiences

For what it's worth, the following are commentaries by two JKD instructors who have trained with Patrick Strong. Enjoy.

Raf Figueroa: Just came back from training with Pat today. Well I can only speak from my own perspective. I think I am a pretty real guy with real experince . If I thought something was bs I would never dream to train in it. Nothing 'parlor ' about what we (I ) do. Now does Pat do demo's , yes. Intresting a pretty famous guy that accused Pat of that uses some of his methods that you can see on his clips!

Anyhow Lasse and I where working out the other day probably alot of people would drop at our intensity and grueling break neck pace of our training and we where laughing about these parlor tricks where accused of. Man its hard work plain and simple. Pat works out as hard as a 20year old. There is no secret to what he has other then smarts and hard work. He is sharper then most mentally.

About this changing every five years , it may be true cause guess what? He's a guy thats NEVER SATISFIED nor one to stagniate. So yes he improves alot . That does not mean 'he invents ' new things just for the sake of. If he finds a better way , hell yes. He's not a robot and a sheep and is practicle, nor is a slave to a style ,dogma or system . Only sheeps follow to copy someone else if they can't make it work for themselves.

It's all too funny(we think). These people that accuse have simply no idea what we do. Yeah like we can't kickbox cause where stuck in seattle ..lol funny.

William Holland: If it walks like a duck, a quacks like a duck, it's probably a duck! Call it what you want. But the stuff I learn from Pat works well and works right now!

The other day, after spending just about an hour and a half with Pat, Rafael, Lasse and Pat's son, Pat showed us some stuff that may come off to some as "parlor tricks" or slight of hand, exaggeration etc.

But the next day, I was working with some guys, one of which is a former world class Powerlifter with a bench of 400lbs, squat of 500 etc. (He competed when he was 18 in the 165 lb class over 20 years ago).

Anyway, I was able to topple him and push him off his base with almost no effort and using only two fingers. The guy was amazed.

I don't care what you call it as long as you say it works! Cuz it does.

I have to agree with M. Wright on this one. Almost nothing on the clip resembles wing chun modified or not. And not the later Jun Fan Gung Fu. I'm not going to comment on the quality of it. But as far as anyone claiming to be connected to JKD/Jun Fan. I have a simple common sense approach if they are lying or exaggerating in anyway I drastically lower my opinion of them. I'm loath to post anymore on here as in the past when I pointed out some facts to just these sort of people a lawsuit was mentioned in regards to a person I admire quite a bit. Now legally I was always under the impression that if you sue a person you have to have facts to prove your case. You would have to have more than an award from a magazine and delusional thoughts. But if their is a 1% chance I'd rather not be the cause. And lets face it in the US we had a woman throw herself in front of a train and sue for millions and win. So I suppose its possible for a loser to sue a great man on BS and win.

                          Introduction

WKG: Sigh, again, the clip has nothing to do with the content presented in Patrick Strong's DVD set. That clip is presented during the credits of ONE of the DVD's in the set. The set contains 4 DVD's and I described the content of each DVD on this very same page. In terms of Patrick Strong's experiences training with Bruce Lee, he was a student of Bruce Lee from 1960-1963. From 1964-1966, Sifu Strong periodically met with Lee in Oakland and Los Angeles. Sifu Strong even had dinner with Bruce Lee shortly after his fight with Wong Jack Man. Sifu Strong is the only Seattle Era student to incorporate JKD techniques into his personal fighting method. Examples include the Bai Jong stance and some of the Fencing footwork that Bruce Lee taught during the L.A./Chinatown period.
