Can someone please explain the significance of the JKD symbol/logo? Do the Colors have any special meaning? Also, what is the meaning of the Chinese characters around it? Thanks

Hey JKDPhilosopher,
The JKD Symbol is a slight modification of the Yin/Yang symbol or sometimes called the Tai Chi symbol. Bruce Lee once said:
“In the yin yang symbol, there is a white spot on the black half, and a black spot on the white half. In JKD, Yang (firmness) should be concealed in Yin (gentleness) as Yin is concealed within Yang."
He talks more about the Yin/Yang symbol and the theories in general in his first book "Chinese Gung Fu: Philosophical Art of Self Defense".
It is symbolism. Sigung Lee was trying to get across the idea of fluidity, etc. The idea that a JKD fighter should be soft but not yielding. About the arrows around the circle: "The curved arrows surrounding the Yin Yang symbol represent not only the harmonious interplay of Yin Yang but also the interchangeability of opposites.”
The Chinese text around the circle is Chinese for "Using no way as way, having no limitation as limitation."
Hope this helps!
