thought on the wtc bombing
I posted a thread regarding the tregedy that our nation has experienced today. Doesn't anyone have any sentiment about what happened today? Isn't there something you would like to express or sympothize with the victims. Being a martial artist my main concern is my saftey and the saftey of others. I thought this would be a site that could relate the seriousness of what happened and maybe post some oppinions on what our country has just experienced. I would be interested in hearing opinions - sentiment about this horrific tregedy.

hello,
i work right across the street from WTC in the black building (when you watch 2WTC collapse, you will see the black building).
i was in train and they were delayed running slow, when the first plane crashed, as i came out a mob of people were running at me yelling "bomb!". i got swept into going out a narrow staircase and as i got up to street i saw the big hole in 1 WTC. i walked to my builing and did not see the 2nd plane crashing, but felt the boom as my building's glass shattered. people panicked and just ran. i have seen footage on tv and it looks like my building (the old merrill lynch building with brooks brothers on ground floor and across from dept. store century 21) the lower level's windows all shattered.
walked across brooklyn bridge to hook up with wife and hightail out of the area expecting the collapse of the WTC. many people were still standing and watching in trauma and shock. my first priority was to find my wife. had no cell phone, all public phones were backed up with people calling loved ones.
my condolences to all victims, family, firemen, police, emergency workers who may not have made it through this day.
i was lucky. be safe.

the tragedy
Hi J.K
I think everyone is pretty upset about this whole issue.
Not everyone expresses it, but I think we are all pretty shaken up and shocked, to say the least.
The real tragedy is the loss of life that occurred in those buildings and planes.
Hopefully, we'll find out the real parties responsbile for this.
Take care

Stickgrappler Im glad that you made it out ok. I was pretty scared most of yesterday - I have a friend that i roomed with in college that works in the trade center. I was frantic trying to get a hold of him, but i couldn't reach him. The uncertainty of not knowing weather or not he was in the building was unbearable. I was able to get a hold of his parents phone number and they informed me that he was not seriously injured but did get some scraps and bruises from the collapsing building.
I also had one of my close friends call me right after it happened - he was crying - he said " I think my brother is dead." His brother worked on the 65th floor of the WTC. He was a mess, he kept trying to get confirmation of his brothers status. His brother was able to contact him later on in the day about 1pm to let him and his family know that he was okay. Thank God - this is the most horrible thing I have ever wittnessed. I hope we retaliate 10 fold with extreme prejudice. I hope all is well with your famlies - this is a time where americans need to stick together.

They took 4 planes with knives
Terrorists armed only with blades were able to sucessfully take control of 3 aircraft and committ such horrible acts destroying many thousands of lives and affecting thousands of others.
We should all have renewed respect for bladed weapons.
I pray this insanity will end.

seems almost impossible that 3-6 men armed only with blades could take over a plan with 42 - 90 people on board. Granted we don't have all the details but its just unbelieveable. An imporvised sheild could have been used - such as a seat cushion to protect ones self, while initiating an attack on the terrorist. Im so frustrated over this whole thing - it is truely disgusting. The phone call's of the peoble abord the plane to their families, chokes me up evertime i hear them. This an outrage. A student from palastein was quoted saying that america got what they deserve - no body deserves this. Show your support to your country and Fly our flag. United we stand - divided we fall.
Hunt them down like the most vicious of all beast....

I think that maybe (this is just conjecture BTW) the people on the plane that went down in pennsylvania did resist and that's why the plane crashed in the middle of nowhere instead of camp david. I don't know, but I believe that if those people knew what was going on at all, then they knew their lives were forfeit, and fought to keep the terrorists from carrying out there plan.
This whole thing is sick. I have never heard so many Americans crying for blood. I know people who are normally the sweetest people, but since tuesday they are all for killing ANYBODY even close to responsible for this atrocity.
It is in the most trying of times when we find our true character, and when our true character most often betrays us. I just ask everyone in our country, and in any country that respects the principles of freedom, to stay calm and stay strong. Everyone should get a flag and FLY IT, proudly. Yesterday at work I made my boss put up a flag in front our building, just to show solidarity, because we are all in this together. I urge everyone to do the same.
UNITED WE STAND

America: The Good Neighbor
I must say I agree with the last post, i see freinds and family once very peaceful people, screaming for blood. This is not about revenge!!! an eye for an eye makes the world blind. its about justice! getting mad and just bombing whoever will make alot of people feel better but think how it will look on america if we just turn into a blood thirsty nation out to crucify for the sake of revenge. people get what they deserve, you reap what you sow. Justice needs to be served, not revenge.
this is a great article from a canadian newspaper, please read it!!!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------America: The Good Neighbor.
Widespread but only partial news coverage was given recently to a
remarkable editorial broadcast from Toronto by Gordon Sinclair, a
Canadian television commentator. What follows is the full text of
his trenchant remarks as printed in the Congressional Record:
"This Canadian thinks it is time to speak up for the Americans as
the most generous and possibly the least appreciated people on all the
earth. Germany, Japan and, to a lesser extent, Britain and Italy
were lifted out of the debris of war by the Americans who poured in
billions of dollars and forgave other billions in debts. None of these
countries is today paying even the interest on its remaining debts to the United States. When France was in danger of collapsing in 1956, it was the Americans who propped it up, and their reward was to be insulted and swindled on the streets of Paris. I was there. I saw it. When earthquakes hit distant cities, it is the United States that hurries in to help. This spring, 59 American communities were flattened by tornadoes. Nobody helped. The Marshall Plan and the Truman Policy pumped billions of dollars into discouraged countries. Now newspapers in those countries are writing about the decadent, warmongering Americans. I'd like to see just one of those countries that is gloating over the erosion of the United States dollar build its own airplane. Does any other country in the world have a plane to equal the Boeing Jumbo Jet, the Lockheed Tri-Star, or the Douglas DC10? If so, why don't they fly them? Why do all the International lines except Russia fly American Planes? Why does no other land on earth even consider putting a man or woman on the moon? You talk about Japanese technocracy, and you get radios. You talk about German technocracy, and you get automobiles. You talk about American technocracy, and you find men on the moon - not once, but several times--and safely home again. You talk about scandals, and the Americans put theirs right in the store window for everybody to look at. Even their draft-dodgers are not pursued and hounded. They are here on our streets, and most of them, unless they are breaking Canadian laws, are getting American dollars from ma and pa at home to spend here. When the railways of France, Germany and India were breaking down through age, it was the Americans who rebuilt them. When the Pennsylvania Railroad and the New York Central went broke, nobody loaned them an old caboose. Both are still broke. I can name you 5000 times when the Americans raced to the help of other people in trouble. Can you name me even one time when someone else raced to the Americans in trouble? I don't think there was outside help even during the San Francisco earthquake. Our neighbors have faced it alone, and I'm one Canadian who is damned tired of hearing them get kicked around. They will come out of this thing with their flag high. And when they do, they are entitled to thumb their nose at the lands that are gloating over their present troubles. I hope Canada is not one of those." Stand proud, America! This is one of the best editorials that I have ever read regarding the United States. It is nice that one man realizes it. I only wish that the rest of the world would realize it. We are always blamed for everything, and never even get a thank you for the things we do. I would hope that each of you would send this to as many people as you can and emphasize that they should send it to as many of their friends until this letter is sent to every person on the web. I am just a single American/U.S. citizen that has read this. I SURE HOPE THAT A LOT MORE READ IT SOON.

"i see freinds and family once very peaceful people, screaming for blood. " I see the Red Cross crying out for blood for all the victims of this terrible incident.
Revenge, Retribution, Justice...Whatever term you use - its all the same. America has always been a diplomatic country and we are most certainly approaching this matter in a diplomatic way. Our president is being careful in his planning - he is seeking out the responsible parties and then and only then will he initiate wheels of justice. I hear what your saying - devin - about an eye for eye will leave the whole world blind. Its a good point, however sometimes you need to eliminate the problem to protect the rest of the world. We are not just attacking the first suspects. We are having diplomatic discussion with the leaders of foreign nations - they are supporting us. They know the are also are volunerable to such disguesting acts. So what we are seeing now is international court which is condeming these disguesting acts. Every country's leader has a responsiblity to protect its citizens - a leader would be failing in his responsiblities to protect his cititzens if he/she were to let this go unpunished. Devin - hate is not diplomatic, justice is...We are not doing this out of hate toward another nation but rather for the sake of justice and world peace.Last edited by J.K.; 09-13-2001, 02:35 PM.
