Thank you Alex. I did know that and that was my point. I said you could change it to Jeet tek do and have way of the intercepting foot. My point was no matter what you are intercepting. To be doing JKD one must intercept the opponents attack and flow from there into what they feel comfortable doing. JKD is about expressing yourself, as an individual so the proper response to a situation is, there is no proper response. Only what you know is effective and hopefully efficient. No matter what you do in JKD that causes the name to change the concept is still the same intercept. That was my point. Although I appreciate the post thank you so much. It is nice to see people try and edify one another and build each other up.

Jack,
No one is fussing. People are just discussing to gain deeper insight about: JKD, Martial arts as a whole, themselves, and the others who post on here. Please do not think we are a bunch of KJKD people who sit at home and argue about things just to make ourselves look big. We are people who are passionate and genuinely love what we do and helping each other grow to new plateaus. If we come off as anything else than I am sorry. This is what i believe base on the people i have talked to from here and the threads I have participated in when I had a computer. As everywhere this forum has people just want to start things but I have not met any personally and have not seen many posts like that on the mousel forum. If you do find one, please do not assume that is all of us. The people I have posted with and chatted with are top notch quality people. I genuinely love this forum and the insight I have gained through participating here.Last edited by JKDMAN; 03-31-2002, 04:47 AM.

Hegel and Spinoza
Bruce Lee was primarily an eastern thought devotee who was steeped in
Hindu, Buddhist, Taoist, and Zen concepts. His two favorite Western theorists were Hegel and Spinoza, advocates of monist systems. Hegel believed that history was marching toward a spiritual unity of all things.
Spinoza thought that reality was a unicity in which God is everything and vice versa. Lee did not believe in a god, but he admired philosophers who broke down dualisms. Lee thought that most western thought (cf. Plato, Kant,
Descartes, and the medievals) was based on an erroneous dualism.
What is,is, and opinions are not. That is "what a style of no style" means- opponent cannot beat me because there is no opponent.
Become his shadow, and you cannot lose.

I train in JKDC under Skip Watson ( certified by Marc McFann and Marc from Guro Inosanto). We practice grappling extensively. I also train under Alex Schennarah , apprentice instructor under Lamar Davis(certified by Steve Golden who was certified by Bruce). Lamar is also certified under another one of Bruce's students ( I forgot which one, sorry). Lamar claims you do not need to grapple! I have gotten no ground time at all in JFJKD.I respect Lamar and perhaps he does not need to be proficient on the ground but I do. He claims that if you train appropriately you can stop a grappler from taking you down. I do not want to start controversy but this will not work for me.
From my experience JFJKD is definitely a style with specific techniques etc. I will add some controversy hear as according to several authorities there are all numerous instructors now claiming to be fully certified under Sijo Lee.Just visit "Big JKD"website for Sean Madigans's list of instructors. Also visit the Bruce Lee Educational Foundation website for even more. I am like you that for 15 years after Bruce's death Dan Inosanto was the only one we ever heard or read about. Since about 1990 I have been seeing and hearing about more and more of them.I am not so sure about JKDC which in my experience does not appear like any style I have studied! If you want to understand more of where I am coming from I urge to visit the "Authentic JFJKD" website hosted by Sifu Ron Prather, he is one of Sifu Lamar's apprentice instructors. You will see the side of JFJKD I have been exposed to. Weapons training is another area I do not see taught in JFJKD , I am not saying this is good or bad , just that it is.I hope this gives you a better idea of my background and experiences. I am interested in your thoughts.
Jack
