  • Could I get some explanations please?

    1. on the difference between Wing Chun and JKD?
I am a new person to martial arts, 45 years old, looking for self defense, physical training, spiritual, and mental benefits, all of which are very important to me.

    2. Where there are good training facilities/teachers in SE Michigan? Any recommendations?

Thank you all very much for your input.

Wing Chun is a classic Chinese style. It focusses mainly on one range of fighting called trapping range. This range is close range at a distance where both you and your opponent can hit each other on the body without stepping. JKD incorporates some wing chun but also has an eclectic mix of arts and styles that cover all ranges of fighting. I would suggest that you look in the yellow pages and visit some schools. You will probably know right away when you find one that seems to suit you.

There is a place in Madison Heights, Jeet Kune Do Gym or something like that. It is on Stephenson near 13 mile rd.

Yup ... and the guy who runs it, Chris Malgeri, is a top notch guy and a good martial artist. I'd highly recommend checking him out.
