So, if someone else were asking, I would refer them to your school ... to train or, at least, to ask about other schools in the area (if they're looking for something you guys don't do).

do any of you guys know of a JKD school in the Louisville Ky area? I have studied some shaolin-do(hold a blue belt) and some krav maga and have always been interested in martial arts, hell I grew up on Bruce Lee movies. Any help would sure be appreciated.
sikal- I see you are moving to Kentucky in Oct. maybe you can help me out here as I have searched the net and have not found any solid leads so far.

thanks Fighter I'll try the yahoo search and see what comes up. I am watching a Bruce Lee documentary on AMC with some clips of a movie he never got to make (I can't remember the name of the movie as I have been in and out of my office on the puter and watching the tube.) My favorite Bruce movie is probably The Chinese Connection I saw it when I was like 12(the year it came out) was the first martial arts movie I ever saw. Also used to watch Bruce as Kato on the Green Hornet as a kid.

OK
The movie you were talking about is called Game of Death? That movie would have been much better if got to finish it.
Let me know if you if you find a school. OK

I'll be moving there in Oct. and starting a school. You'd be more than welcome. I won't be doing JKD, but I'll be doing some fun stuff
Visit the links in my sig to find out more about what I will be teaching.

hey sikal, I am very interested in checking out your school when you move here, please keep me posted. also if I can be of help in some way with the move let me know as I grew up in Louisville and still live just a few minutes away in the Oldham Co. area. I have not trained for awhile due to schedule conflicts but I really miss it. My first teacher train directly under GrandMaster Sin Kwang The' and while I like Shaolin-do and the guys who taught me I prefer a more progressive approach to martial arts. I have a shall we say colorful history and traditional martial artist often don't fair well in actual combat situations.

I'll actually be in Louisville on July 22nd and 23rd. I'm waiting to hear from my buddy who lives there (actually, he lives in Sellersburg, IN ... but that's basically a suburb of Louisville) to see if I have crash spaceWe'll likely train some. If you'd be interested in hooking up (to train or just for dinner or something), let me know ... send me an e-mail at sikal@yahoo.com
I don't know much about Shaolin-Do (I've visited the website) and I've never seen it in person.
I try to stay focused on practical material. Of course, there is some material that's purely foundational and used to develop, enhance, and maintain attributes like coordination, balance, etc. But, like I say, I generally try to stay focused on practicality. Hopefully, you'll like what I do
Take care, Mike

jun fan man,
The difference between MMA and JKD. Not much but JKD refers to me in disposing of what doesn't work and use what does. MMA is what I beleve collecting all differnt techniques and using them in a MMA comp.
But I could be wrong and this is just my opinion. But in my books Fighting is Fighting, no matter what it is.
