    Hi Arizona Kid,

    welcome to the forum.

However, you sound like you studied in a McDojo with your criticism of our behaviour.

I have no idea who invented the Philosophy that Martial Artists have to be all behaving and disciplined.

Of course it takes discipline when you train and practice, but who cares about how you behave outside your training.

As for the who and who is not the real deal...

OK. So who is the real deal? Are you? How about out there in the world of Martial Arts? Who the hell is the real deal? There are so many Martial Artists out there. They are pretty good and know how to fight, but i don't consider them the real deal.

In my opinion, the real deal will take your life with no hesitation using the martial art he has studied if you decide to cross him.
The real deal has also fought for his life and the people he cares about in life and death situations.

You may be a good martial artist, but if you have not fought at this level, and you got a "black belt", you better throw it in the laundry and wash it until it turns white again or step down one level and recognize that you may have techniques, but can you pull it off when you or your family's life depends on it?

One more thing just so you know, I run security at a shipping dock in LA on the graveyard shift. It's relatively peaceful and it allows me to spend time in here during work hours. So that is why I have time to spend in here

Lets look at a couple of quotes from our good friend Knifer.

"Prison??? No way I'm going back to that fuc kin place. Thank God for the techniques otherwise I might be dead."

      and

"I run security at a shipping dock in LA on the graveyard shift."

So, the ex con "runs" security does he! Haw haw haw! Knifer! You live in a dream world! Snap out of it!

      WHAT A WANKER!

PS - My name is Bri Thai!

        Hey Bir Thai,

Yes. Ex Con runs security here in Los Angeles.

Maybe in England Sherriff of Nottingham got robbed because his security did not know a thing about the way criminals work.
In England they figure that a guy with no experience in Crime has the ability to stop tough criminals. That's why the Cops in UK are such pussies.

Here in LA things are different. Things work on connections. If you have a firend, he hires you for a job he knows you can do. He don't care if you have a record or not.

But you're from UK where people are uptight, snooty, and don't lookout for one another so I don't expect you to understand this kind of camaraderie except maybe if you were a criminal.

Thanks for telling me about the camaraderie over there. It's a bit out of step with all that tripe you talk about people all carrying weapons and being prepared to kill each other all the time though, isn't it?

Make your mind up! - WHAT A WANKER!

            Bir Thai,

Are you a fool or what? You definitely do not symbolize the sharp minds that Brits are known for.

When I say Camaraderie, do you think I am referring to my good relations with my enemies? Do you actually think my enemies are my buddies, and my buddies are my enemies?

            LOL!

Don't be a fool! That's okay though. I understand that you are looking, searching through my posts to find that one thing to exploit.

It is true though me and my crew are always armed and ready to kill the crew that is armed and ready to kill us. That's just a part of life. That is why we train. That is why we have discovered truth in combat through experience. That is why we strike our enemies when they do not see it coming.

Are you ever going to learn that being interested in martial arts does not mean that we automatically become freedom fighters, law abiding citizens, or good sportsman.

Just because Karate Kid Movie take place in Los Angeles, does not mean we all practice the Philosophy of Miyagi Do Karate.

              Fighting

Hey auto in your opinion which arts (in general ) are more geared to self defense i know it depends on the person but but what do you or anyone else thing
              Bjj(grappling)
              JKd(ranges)
              Thai(knees elbows)
              Krav maga(defense against headlocks etc)

im basically asking from you experience what people try to do to you when they attack do they grab try to slam you etc etc

I knew it! LOL, I knew this forum had a spelling Nazi somewhere. It just picks away at some folks until they have to say something. It must be like a catharsis. Well, we all have our foibles, as "Gracie" so succinctly illustrates. I'm no exception.

So, Knifer.....theres loads of camaraderie, yet everyone has loads of enemies too.

The USA is either a crap place to live or, as I really suspect, you're talking out of your arse hole.

PS - Oh yeah, and you're some kind of mysterious dark figure who fights to the death and does all kinds of things that you've seen in videos........

                    WHAT A WANKER!

                        Hi Phillyman

Um.. to be honest, I don't really like to be 'opionated' too much. Like you said, it depends on the person. Basically, you have to analyze your own physical abilities and go from there. For example, a short pudgy person is not really suited to high kicks--a tall lanky person isn't really suited to grappling, if you are slow, somehow there has to be something to compensate for it. As far as self defense is concerned, it depends on what you are looking for, how far you are willing to go(there is a price to pay for being... 'overlyaggressive?'). MA is great for health purposes, self gratification and self confidence as well as defense.
There is no all inclusive one and only art. BJJ is great but not every aspect of it may be useful for you. Try different things and see what works for you and what doesn't. That means sparring against a wide range of styles and opponents. That means learning how to grapple, hit, kick, joint manipulate etc. It seems like a lot to learn but with experience comes knowing what to use and when. And everything you learn won't be useful--you have to throw away the stuff that didn't work for you when you tried it.
People come at you many different ways. Some rush you(that's where mobility comes into play), some run away, some try to distract you with feints(just hit them when they feint too much),some will hit into you when you move in(that's where anticipation comes in). Basically, whithin the first few seconds of a fight you should be able to read the opponent's preferences. For example, most shooters will crouch with the arms out. However there are exceptions--Royce use to stand up and then wait for you to attack and then shoot. Boxers are weak in the low line and become confused when their arms are tied up--the majority also suck on the ground.Thai guys like to grab you but for those of you quick enough, their groin is exposed when they throw the rear roundhouse. I could go on forever but this is something you have to learn on your own by being observant and perceptive. Study the weaknesses of others and figure out how to take advantage of them. On the other hand, study your own weaknesses and make them less of a comprimise.

                          Such imaturity!!

Oh my dear god!! What is all this? Grown adults fighting like infants?!

Seriously, I do not mean to offend anyone by saying this, but I am only eighteen years old, and I assume you all are somewhere in your 20's to 40's based on the other posts I have read, but now I am beggining to think you belong in the children's section of this message board.

Why fight like infants? This is so utterly childish!
This is a MESSAGE BOARD, it is not meant to take your pitiful anger out on others, and it is definitely not meant to be an arena where cynical, paranoid, and/or unsure children come to start conflicts and whine and throw temper tantrums!

Why try and offend others, when you can try and make people happy?
You should be ashamed of yourselves!
This is a forum to talk about martial arts and have a ood time learning, and getting acquainted with new people! It is to have fun!
So I expect this fruitless immoral behavior to cease.
And if it doesn't, maybe you should find another message bored to torment people at.

I guess some of you may reply to my message and insult me. That is not wise, considering you do not know me or a thin about me, and I am only trying to help you. But go ahead, it won't bother me. If you think you can upset me by saying something that has no meaning like "HAHA U WANKER" or the such, then you are sorely mistaken.
If you were real men, you would just ignore the person who torments you, rather than retaliate.
After all, this IS a martial-arts forum, and if my sources are correct, then martial arts practices pacifism, and self defense, not offense and petty worthless insults that make you look like idiotic.

I really hope you guys will calm down. I hate seeing people unhappy, sad, or fighting. There is no reason to fight.

                          -With sincere wishes,

                            Amen!

But, as to pacifism, this has never really been the case. Real (that is, designed for field combat during war) martial arts were never meant for pacifists. Pacifism in the martial arts is primarily a modern abstraction. This is because, for instance, Karate's primary purpose in post-war Japan was to instill pride and character in dangerously out-of-control youth. Sometimes it has pragmatic roots, such as the teacher who comes back from the horrors of war not wishing his students to experience the same horrors without good cause.

Remember, even (maybe especially) in ancient Japan, swordsmen would routinely challenge eachother to a dual to the death as a matter of sacred honor or even simply to establish credentials so they could teach with utmost respect in a Daimyo's residence.

Well documented and cross-referenced stories abound of master swordsmen slaying foes almost ritualistically.

                            Happy day . . .

"Mousel's" is hardly the forum it used to be

And the JKD forum is probably the best on this board. Go look at the BJJ board LMAO.
