  • Martial Arts in Charlotte, NC?

Hello everyone! I'm looking for a good martial arts training center in the Charlotte, NC area...preferably someone that specializes in JKD, Muay Thai, or Wing Chung...anyone have any recommendations?

    Thanks in advance!

Start with the yellow pages. Really. If you look around and still have some trouble, post again. You need to specify what you want out of training: self defense, fitness, competition, etc.

I'm afraid I don't know Scott. But I do know and can recommend Dickie Harrell, who lives in Charlotte, NC. He is old school Muay Thai. I'm not aware of his status w/ Guro Inosanto as it has been several years since we trained together. Anyway, here's an article from the Thai Boxing Association web page on him:

            Highly recommended.

              Scott sheilds

I have been in charlotte since 96 and have been training with Mr. Shields for about a year and a half. I wish i had been training with him since 96. He is a world class MAs. He offers many diverse training areas. Specializing in Juijitsu and JKD right now he is offering a Kali class that is excellent and Has Eric Paulson down for seminars on a regluar basis. Go to his website and go to his message board read some of the current discussions. You will not get bored at his school. The only problem I have with him is that there is so much that he can teach you I want to learn it all but do not have the time I am having a hard time picking what I want to train in Since I have been with him I have trained in the JuiJitsu and JKD. I have had one other JkD teacher in the past and Scott shields IS an incredible teacher and Martial Artist .......Check him out......
