  • Training Journal

I have decided to start my physical and mental training. I have heard that starting a training journal is a good idea. However, I am uncertain on how to properly write one. Can someone explain how to write a training journal? What kind of format should be used when writing one? These may sound like strange questions, but they are troubling me. Thanks for the help.

    Ok

    Ok, well.

First you need a book to write in.

And now you will have to write in it what you have done in your training.
Say if you are weight training on that day; lets say it's Legs day and your are doing Squats, Leg extensions, Lunches. You will need to write down the weight you are using for the exercise, and how many reps you have done.

You can also write down whether you were ill or injured so when you look back at the journal you can find out why your performance wasn't at it's standard.

Write down you warm-up and warm-downs and what they consist of. But write then short.
Always write small amounts on your workouts so you don't spend to much time on it.

After your workout write a few notes reflecting back on your training.
    .................................................................................................... .....
And there you have it a simple yet a good workout journal.

If you need any more help on your journal; E-mail me.

P.s. Could you tell me what mental training you are doing?

    Cheers.

I'm not sure if your idea of a training journal is similar to the training notes I make. I don't really make notes on how well I've performed from a athletic perspective ie. how long I can run, how much I can lift etc. My notes tend to cover things I have done in class that I feel I need to remember. There were so many times when I learn something in class only to forget it a week later.

I only started making notes a few months ago, but I have gone back to read them, and they have helped me remember certain things!
