Too many martial arts depend upon both closed hand impact and sport style wrestling. The more I hear about this "Shredder" concept, like using your fingers to rip into vulnerable areas, the more I am convinced that it will be an excellent addition to anyones self defence arsenal.

I sounds like something you'd be able to do even if you were 80 years old...... (I'm almost half way there!).

I havent got the package yet, but its on order. I'll review it on the site when it comes through. Yes Spanky. I'll do a proper review, unlike yours........

True. Self defense can be less athletic. I think PFS looks like it is an efficient system.

It sounds like something called Eagle Claw kung fu or Uiechi Ryu karate!

          IT ISN'T

Only if you isolate 1 technique. The Shredder is as close to Eagle claw kung fu or Uiechi karate as MMA is to ballroom dancing.

Bri Thai, have you seen any other of Richard Dimitri's tapes? If not, I would highly and strongly recommend his Get REAL series. They cover the Shredder and much more. I have learned an enormous amount from these 3 tapes alone, more than I have from all the other tapes I own combined.

the train special ops. gets is suffiecent, they can do it if they have to, but their main thing is weapons a tactics. take anyone who has trained as a fighter for a long time and there is no match though. the military has a set amount of time dedicated to each area o training and they don't spend as long on h2h as they do on weapons and tactics. most fighters who train 4 or more days a week would easily handle them. the one advantage the soilder has is mind set, their training is geared towards killing, so eyes, throat, and anything esle is good to go.

I think the Shredder is to Eagle claw Chin Na as country & western dancing is to ballroom dancing.

You guys are too funny. Stop watching videos and train for real.

I wish I could train in several systems and styles all at once, but realistically you find yourself focusing on one or two ranges of fighting like punching and kicking or elbow, knee, clinch and takedown defense or takedowns and ground work.

When you come across something like R.A.T or kino mutai it reminds you that there's more out there.

Don't get me started on Vunaks RAT System Tom. What a rip off. At least the tapes, in person I'm sure it's much better.

As an ex-video junkie the great thing about them is that they expose you to so much, so many ideas. The problem is they can distract you from making headway with a real instructor.

You keep your regular training in focus, but for example applying destructions on the way in instead of counter punching or kicking is a good idea for self defense.

You are absolutely corrrect though. Spending time discussing R.A.T takes away from training time, but I've completed my 2.5 hours of training today.
