  • 30 years on today from Bruce Lees death

The 20th July 2003. 30 years after the death of one of the greatest martial artists to ever walk this earth.
    A legend and a hero…………… A modern warrior.

We are not sure how Bruce died. Myths have been made and ideas wondered. The day when someone special in the lives of many, witnessed a tragic loss to the family and friend of Bruce, to the movie fans and to fellow martial artists.

I wasn't there to witness 20th July 1973. So I cannot say I knew that day’s atmosphere. I wasn't born. I wasn't alive before 20th July 1973 to be thought by one of the greatest Martial artist of the 20th century. I missed out.
If Bruce was still with us today what do you think he would be doing? Most likely teaching he's ways of Jeet Kune Do and still kicking butt. Who knows? He could have been the head of own martial arts world tournament and a fighting business. He most likely would of promoted martial arts to the world. Demonstrating around the world leaving people with "WOW's" and "OOH's."

I would of loved to of seen Bruce 62 years old. Maybe he would have had a grey bearded and still have he's youngish looks.

I wasn’t to remember Bruce Lee as an example. An example to Martial arts and Martial artists. An example to Movies. An example to live a different life and a life were Bruce achieve a lot for martial arts and philosophy.

    My respects to Bruce Lee

July 19th 1973 a Feng-Shui deflector designed to warn off evil spirits was blown of the Lee's household roof in a storm, the next day Bruce Lee was found dead in Betty Ting Pei's house.
There were many different myths of how the legend died, from one of the Martial arts grand masters summoning up all his Psyche energy to deliver one fatal touch to Bruce Lee because of teaching people of different origin a oriental art.

Or as other actors at the time had mafia protection the Triads (Hong Kong Mafia) killed him because he refused to pay them).

But the most extreme myth, the one that has ironic facts backing it up is the Curse of the Dragon.

It is strongly believed that the Lee family has the curse on them, the curse is one that effects all the mails of the family until the curse is lifted (in China men are still the strong providers of the family), in fact Bruce's father Hou-Cheun believed in it so much that when Bruce was born he had his ear pierced, dressed him as a girl and renamed him Sai Fon, meaning "Little Phoenix" to disguise him from Hou-Cheun's devil.

Hou-Cheun's father died at the age of 64, when this happened Bruce had one of his many premonitions that he would only live to be half of his father’s age. All through his life he had these dreams, premonitions that he fought a devil described as a tall dark shadow figure.

Then as he dreamt, at the age of 32 Bruce Lee died after The Feng-Shui deflector designed to protect his family from the devil was blown off his house.

Now this could be put down to being circumstantial, but that’s not where the curse ends.. There's more.

The last film Bruce made was Game of Death, the film was ironically like Bruce Lee's Life, he played and actor being hunted by the Triads as he was refusing protection from them. In one scene Bruce faked his own death by charging at a crowd of gunmen that were meant to be firing blanc bullets, in the film he made out one of these bullets were real, killing him to hide from the Triads. Years later, at the age of thirty two just three and a half months before Bruce died, Brandon Lee, Bruce's son was killed While filming the Crow, on one of the scenes he is fighting on a table with gunmen shooting at him, like his father acted one of the bullets was real.

That is three men in three generations effected by the the demon curse.. Now is that fact?? Or fiction??

The Doctor’s report on Bruce's death is that he died due to a swelling of the brain because of a allergic reaction to Hashish he was found after complaining of a headache and resting after taking a strong pain relief medication

I think I know How Bruce Died

I have the documentary on he's life.

And the medical sciences says that every fight scene in he's
movies wasn't always fake. So Bruce took alot of damage. Since
he was beaten over and over again since Bruce wanted to get
the best results. If he didn't like it, he had to re-make it. So Bruce
had pain all over he's body, And for that he took Pain Killers. But
what Bruce didn't know whas that he was allergic to Pain Killers.
So he told he's agent (I think) that he was going to rest before
the next scene. But Bruce never woke up. There was a chemical
reaction from the pain killers wich made Bruce die. Damn thoose Pain Killers...

[EDIT] Ohh! U posted It Before Me! My Bad! [/EDIT]

most of what skull says is true except hes missing something. Bruce had a deseise I don't know what it was speciklybut it afected hes spinal cord and he was in constent pain. That is the reason for the pain killers. And it is true that he died in hes sleep. Hes doctor had prediagnosed him with this problem and hes family were already aware, that he didn't have much longer to live. But he still continuied to make movies. That was hes down fall. He is missed by all and I truely wish that the false versions of hes death were done away with. The place I got this from was a documentary that was put togather by hes family and a director, to allow ppl to know what he life was like.

Amaze, the version of Game of Death that we see in the video/DVD shops now was made in 1979....around 5 years after Bruce's death.

The original story behind Game of Death was totally different, and there is only around 25 minutes of original footage left of that.

              Isn't he frozen?
Oh and how is he a modern warrior exactly, wouldn't a modern warrior be someone who fights life or death all the time like a soldier.

                    Nice Trinute

Sorry, I have been away for a few weeks and wasn't able to pay my respects till now. I was 13 years old when Bruce died. I was traveling to Italy with my uncle, aunt and grandparents for the summer when Bruce died. I knew who he was and I knew he was one of a kind but was not really into MA at that point although some of my best friends who were into MA revered him. My friends Joe who was a black belt in Okinown Karate would sit at the movie theatre night after night watching Enter the Dragon and I couldn't understand why he would go to see the same movie 10, 20 or 30 times!

You know, I also write songs and play the guitar and for many years I have often wondered what would Elvis or Buddy Holly or Ritchie Valens or Jim Croce or Harry Chapin be doing if they were still alive- I wondered how many great songs and stories have we missed out on- just like you asked about what Bruce Lee would be doing and I think I found the answer out just this year. Let me explain...

Now, Johnny Cash is still alive but has been in extremely poor health for the last five to ten years. Depite his poor health and doctors orders etc, he recently put out a new album called the When Man Comes Around. There are at least two great songs on the album.

When the Man Comes Around is based on the book of Revelations and the Judegment Day and how one man will decide every other man's fate.

My favorite is called Hurt- it talks about all the pain he has been suffering from cancer and all the things he has accomlished in his life and all the people he has loved who have died and left him. It is one of the best songs I have ever heard but you have to listen to it closely and compare it to real life to understand everything that he talks about.

                    Her are the words:

                    -I hurt myself today-
-To see if I still feel-
                    I focus on thepain-
                    -The only thing that's real-
                    -The needle tears a hole-
                    -that ol familiar sting-
-try to kill it all away-
                    -But I remember everything-

                    -What have I become-
                    -My sweetest friend-
                    -everyone I know-
                    -goes away in the end-
                    -You can have it all-
                    -My empire of dirt-
                    -I will let you down-
                    -I will make you hurt-

                    -I wear this tcrownof thorns
                    -upon my liars chair
                    -full of broken thoughts
                    -I cannot repair
                    -beneath the stain of time
                    -the feeling disappears
                    -You are somewhere else
-I am still right here................. J Cash

Johnny Cash describes his empire of fame and fortune as an empire of dirt. I think that says a lot about life. He is facing his immortality and realizing how meaningless his life really is. This song says so much about living and dying but it also says what Johnny would be doing if he were still here (which he is) that is writing songs that out do evem his greatest songs of all time. That is what Elvis and Buddy Holly and Jim Croce and Harry Chapin would be doing as well. Look at James Taylor, Mick Jagger, Eric Clapton, BB King and Paul McCartnet- they are still writing and performing.

It is my humble opinion that Bruce would still be kicking ass big time and teaching and improving upon his JKD concepts. We all wish he was here to guide us but we can take solice in the fact that great other men like Dan Innosanto, Burt Richardson, Paul Vunak, Chris Kent, Larry Hartsell and many others including our own personal instructors (who may not all be as well known) have stepped up to the plate for him as sort of deignated hitters. We owe a great big thanyou to all of them as well as to Bruce.
