First, to answer Broken elbows dumb questions....I've had a dozen SEAL buddies, have had numerous meals with groups of them, would skydive with the Navy SEAL skydiving team when a member couldn't make it and they'd ask me to fly in his place. We would teach each other martial arts and fighting stuff and do some light sparring together in between jumps. So as a good lawyer would say, don't ask a dumb question when you're not sure what the answer will be.

When I said it''s better to remain quiet and let people wonder whether you're a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt, Jules said that he has a BRAIN. Jules, you need to give us proof. We don't believe things just because someone says it's true. You haven't said anything to let us believe that you really have one.

Another good expression is "Those who can, do it, those who cannot, talk about it." is so applicable for most of the guys who are on this sight. Why don't you go out and train instead of trying to talk about how much you know.

Is that how you lived your life?

Jules said that he has a BRAIN. Jules, you need to give us proof.
Of what? That Bruce Lee only fought one established MAtist
? That he has never won any tournaments? That is the question i asked.

[quote]We don't believe things just because someone says it's true.[/qutoe]

And yet you want others to believe in what you say without any proof.

You haven't said anything to let us believe that you really have one.
Have what? The fact that you have not provided any proof to back up yoru statments?

You've jumped with the Leapfrogs? You must be one helluva skydiver to fill in. Props to you.

We would teach each other martial arts and fighting stuff and do some light sparring together in between jumps.
Great, now what exactly did they teach you? Did you ever ask one to take you on as a student? C'mon we're talking bigtime chance to learn from some of the deadliest fighters on earth and you're just messing around between jumps? What did you teach them?

So as a good lawyer would say, don't ask a dumb question when you're not sure what the answer will be.
As my gray haired Calculus teacher would say, "There's no such thing as a dumb question". Hey I know a few old chestnuts too. Anyways when did a lawyer ever ask questions when trying to find out what was true?

We don't believe things just because someone says it's true.
Careful dude, that cuts both ways.

PROOF THAT YOU HAVE A BRAIN!!! YOU JUST PROVED YOU DIDN'T BY ASKING "PROOF OF WHAT?" DUH!

Domstarr's answer is, yes... when there is a subject I know nothing about, I listen and ask questions rather than pretending I know.

Domstarr said to Jules...You haven't said anything to let us believe that you really have one. ( a brain)

Jules replied.... Have what? A BRAIN JULES, A BRAIN!! GET IT???

If that was a compliment, thank you, if it was sarcastic, no thanks, but I am a world class skydiver and have set world records and am equally qualified in the air to SEALS as far as skydiving.

Broken elbow asked....Great, now what exactly did they teach you? Did you ever ask one to take you on as a student? C'mon we're talking bigtime chance to learn from some of the deadliest fighters on earth and you're just messing around between jumps? What did you teach them?

Domstarr's answer... Are you asking me to explain exactly what "moves" or tecniques they taught me and which ones did I teach them? Kind of hard to explain in writing, don't you think? Since I have five years and a black belt in TaeKwonDo, for years and a black belt in Hapkido, studied some kick boxing with Kathy Long, did some Mui Thai, some Wing Chun and JKD with Paul Vunak, I had a lot to show them that they didn't know. Some of them could have whipped my ass, and I could have taken a few of them myself. Any more questions?

Domstarr's answer is.... I agree. Asking a question to find something out that you don't know is always O.K. What I meant was, it seemed as though you were questioning my relationship with the SEALS that I know like you didn't believe it. (Actually nobody on this web sight believes anything anyone else says anyway.) I've been to their weddings, not as the best man though. I've been to their funerals, even was offered to "say a few words" at one of their services when he was killed. You already heard the rest.

The fact that i do not resort to pathetic attempts at name calling is proof.

yes... when there is a subject I know nothing about, I listen and ask questions rather than pretending I know.
And that's why you will be the same person who does not learn. What did i pretend to know? I asked who B.Lee has fought and competed against. The only answer you have given me is "because he would have killed people if he did". Logic dictates that you are a flawed human being with the inability to have an intellegent debate.

Why is it that whenever I see a post with more that 2 pages of posts it inevitably has detiriorated into a juvinile name calling match? Come on guys.

                Sorry Jules,

You must have me mixed up with someone else. I never said Bruce Lee would have killed someone if he got in a street fight. Read back and try to find it, I'll send you $10,000- if you do. You put words in people's mouth's to suit your arguement, whatever your arguement happens to ba at the time. I never said that, and I challenge you to PROVE it like you always say.

So when I say if there is a subject I know nothing about that I ask questions, listen and learn, and you say that is whay I don't learn anything. That makes a real lot of sense. Don't you ever listen to mitivaional speakers? Ever taken any sales courses or human/public relations courses? Asking questions to LEARN is what successful people do.

How old are you" What do you do for a living? How successful are you? I really wonder whith some of your comments.

Yup that's what I was doing. Too many guys running around saying they hang with or train SEALs. I figured you claiming to jump with the LF, was the most original try at an association or a good chance it was the truth. I'll pick number 2.

Now I still disagree with just about everything else you're saying but hey it's a forum.

My experience with guys from the SEAL teams is limited to those I met at the Oregon Thai Boxing Camp over the years. All of those guys have one thing in comon: quiet professionalism. They didn't brag about what they had done. They just did it. This thread can be seen as having proven a lesson about the converse: You undermine your own accomplishments by bragging.

                      Terry & Ted,

I decided to check out this web-site a few weeks ago to see what it was all about. I've responded to a few threads, probably five or six. Every time I responded, I started out answering someones's question, like which Vunak video would someone reccommend, or why did you start doing JKD, etc. It seems as though it doesn't take three replies by ANYONE and an arguement starts.
Everyone on this website seems to think they know more than everyone else. Whenever you say something, the people who don't believe you, or don't WANT to believe you start saying "prove it" They want names of people Bruce Lee fought 30 yrs. ago. How ridiculous. If you tell them Dan Inosanto said something, they say he's a liar. One of the most respected men in the business. You tell them Vunak told you something, they don't believe you, he's either a liar or I am. Then people quote books, and they say you can't believe what you read. People quote documentaries and they say documentaries lie.
I've looked back and found that the person who starts the thread, is usually the one who is just waiting for someone to disagree with his thinking so he can start an argument. Like he's baiting people into his "trap".
I tell someone that I have a bunch of SEAL friends and they don't believe me. They ask if I've been the best man at their wedding because everyone on this site seems like they are trained to dis-believe everything that anyone else says. When I tell tham how well I know these guys and how we trained together, you say that I'm bragging. I just got sucked in, that's all. What you said about the SEALS was correct, they are very humble. When we were in between skydives and "played" around, they did not act like "know it all's" like everyone on this website. They were humble enough to ask me what I could teach them as well as showing me some of their stuff.
I said one thing when I replied to a thread which I want to stick to now. That is....those who can, do it and those who can't talk about it. I would respectfully ask you to do whatever you need to remove me from this site. Don't send me any notices that someone replied to my response, don't let me log on because I get sucked into arguing with a bunch of guys who should spend more time training and less time talking about it.
I've told some of my SEAL buddies about the conversations I've gotten into ont his web-site and they laugh and tell me not to waste my time. I spoke to my friend Stephen Quadros, who was a contributing editor of Black Belt magazine, co-author of Bas Rutten's book, was also play by play commentator for the "Pride fighting Championships" and he said the same thing. "You know what you know, why try to convince those guys who just want someone to argue with?" Get off the web-site and do what you do best, train yourself and train your students.
SO PLEASE....GET ME OUT OF HERE. TAKE ME OFF.

I believe you! i think you're a modest person who defends what you trust in. lots of people have fun putting others down right or wrong. some of the comments are redundant, and insulting. more of, to those who we admire and look up to. your comments are wonderful and accurate, which i enjoy to read.
