He was no Pro fighter, just an amateur!! Who did he fought more than Bruce.
I dont know if Bruce won or lose..but I dont believe Bruce was that good.
I have my doubts, I think its more the legend and Movies that made him more than he really was.
JKD the phylosophy i believe is a very wise one. But thinking Bruce as undefeated hmmm Naaaaaahhhh.

I don't think I would call someone who's an established master at Northern Shaolin, Hsing Yi, and Tai Chi an amateur. He was a grandmaster sent to San Francisco to establish the first successful Jing Mo in America. He was not an amateur.

that if Linda has been perpetuating a hoax for all these years, those of us who might like to contribute to
the BLF might like to know the truth. However, it makes no difference as far as Jeet Kune Do is concerned. 3rd and 4th gen. students
of the art have to develop the art further, notwithstanding the events of 1965 and an argument that can never be resolved.

I think Bruce won, and I think Linda's and James Yimm Lee's version of events was correct.
I also believe that Wong's rematch challenge is a manufactured story. However, I love taekwondo, karate, judo, and all the other "static"
arts, and I disagree with BL's ruthless criticism of them.
But if you talk to OBLSs, they are adamant that Bruce did win. The only people who believe Wong's side are either Wong's people
or those removed from the facts. One of the Seattle guys offered to confront some of the people involved in the 1980 IK article,
and they did not respond.

Isn't "changing" adapting? I've been interviewing a lot of JKD instructors lately, and many if not most say that they have changed how the "do" JKD over the years. Would it be better to stick with something inefficient or uneffective? From my research i have deduced that bruce was 80% happy with the method, but unhappy with his attribute training. Then, along the way to mastering his kinetic potential he was able to develop better and more efficient techniques because his qualities had improved, simplifying the concepts. Though his attributes are what made some of his ferocity legendary.

My view is this ----I believe Linda's version of events. I do not believe Wong, Chen, and the 1980 IKA article.
However, there were better people than Bruce, then and now. There were better people than Bruce, both inside and outside of Chinese arts. There are better people in Chinese arts, then and now. That does not diminish or denigrate Jeet Kune Do as an original and
important contribution to the arts. Did Kano ever lose a match? if so, would it count against JUDO as it is today? Bruce should not be held to a standard that no other human being is!

Too many of Lee's first group of students confirm that Bruce did win.
And I think if the alternative version is true, it would have come out in Bruce's lifetime
until waiting until some 1979 or 1980 (?) article.
As a history major way back when, IMHO the Linda/JYL version has the ring of truth, while the other story has the "feel" of the conspiratorial trend. Global warming is as factual as the sun rising each day, and yet the media has convinced vast numbers
of scientifically illiterate Americans that there is no global warming! How can anyone who grew up in, say, 1960s Ohio NOT tell that winters are less harsh with less snow, and that it stays warmer towards Thanksgiving?

Anyhow, I refuse to read all 25 pages of this thread, but has anybody raised this fact:
If Bruce Lee did lose the fight, then that means the Chinese martial arts community at the time would have kept forcing him to close his school and quit teaching non-Chinese. That was their stipulations, correct? But I have not read any stories that point to the Kung fu community continuing to pressure Lee to change his teaching style.
As far as how well Lee did, I think its safe to say Lee was dissapointed in himself (cardio, conditioning) and his inability to end Wong Jack Man sooner. Part of this is due to how Wong Jack Man fought the match, forcing Lee to chase after him and tiring him out instead of fighting in a way that Lee could fight easily (the Wing Chun way). All reports I have read said that Wong Jack Man would take off running and spinning and that Lee's hits would just dissolve off of him since Wong Jack Man was mobile.

Try reading books written by and about Bruce Lee before speaking, he was MUCH more than an actor and director who mixed techniques.

I don't do JKD but I trained in it for a while, it's got good material and concepts both in
hand to hand and armed combat. JKD is for real confrontations if you haven't noticed.
If you saw some bad JKDers it doesn't mean the whole system and people are bad!!!!

Bruce Lee was a human being but definitely not an ordinary one, whether you like him and his work or not and he always backed what he talked about. As I said, you should read the books he wrote and that others wrote about him.
