im new to this forum and this is my first post. i just wanna say iv been reading some of the posts and people do know tae kwon do way too much.
i haven't been studying tae kwon do for long and i don't relly know much about other martial arts but i do know that tae kwon do is a martial art thats accesable to a wide range of people of all levels of fitness, maybe thats one of the reasons its under rated, many people take up tae kwon do as a fun way of exercising and maybe learing a little self defence. it may not look flashy when begginers are practicing in the dojang, looking unsure and rigid and it may not look like tae kwon do's effective. but watch a black belt do a pattern or spar and you can't argue that tae kwon do's an effective means of learning self defence and building up your speed, reactions and strength.

......... what are you 12? ok ill give it a try...
someones ability at doing a set form does not show how good they are at fighting. I assume you do taekwondo? no leg kicks, no punches to the face, ridiculous body armour and pads everywhere? sparring in that kind of environment does not mean you are a good fighter either.

that makes sense, i understand what your saying but you can't deny that traing in tae kwon do prepears you for a fight since it teaches you techniques for attack and defense, not only that tae kwon do improves your fitness and flexability, i never said being able to do patterns made you a good fighter. to be honest i aint got anything aginst any other martial arts i just don't get why everone seems so negative towards tae kwon do. it does what it says on the packet!.....(im aware there is not packet, the packet is a metaphor)

i never said he was wrong... i just don't see how he can't see that training in tae kwon do makes you a better fighter or at least is better for you than not training in tae kwon do (i mean not training in MA at all) ... all im saying is TKD is a martial art it trains you in self defence thats my point thats the only point, i never said any one was wrong the words you are wrong were never tyoed by me
