If i remeber correctly it is the martial art taught to korean royalty way back when. It is around 2000 years old and stands for Flower knight or way of the flower(something like that). It is supposed to be a more complete martial art from what i gather.

Hwarang do was taught to a group of young people called the Hwarang youth group. They were similar to boy scouts and ROTC.

Hapkido is another korean art. Like Taekwondo in many aspects but has more joint locks and throws. It is often billed as more of a self defense art.

It's surrounded by more BS than any other art in existence. Dr. Lee let his ego get in front of his considerable talent.

Hwarang has two different costums and is able to fight in a biker jacket/pants. Hwarang has a lot of kicks, very few punches, and two throws, both which are good and involve the legs.
