Wow dude, that was pretty random. Where's your evidence to back that one up? Everyone seems to be talking about racism. Over here guys I found it! Anyways, if you are going to insult a Martial Art, you should probably back your insult up with something. Sounds to me like you just want to stir shit.

Maybe it wasnt the style for you. You have just admitted to wasting 11 good years of you life(not to mention the money),participating in an art that you were no good at. Dont blame the system, look in the mirror. Everyone has two hands and two feet, you just didnt have what it takes to make the arts from Korea work for you.Dont blame the style, these arts have plenty of practioners that are real good at it!!

"No I did TKD for nearly 11 years and if I had had to defend myself I could not trust TKD to work its that simple"
DK hit it dead on. Guyincognito, did it ever occur to you that you fricking suck? If after 11 years you can't fight you simply suck, I doubt any art would make you a better fighter. Maybe you do have some ability but never learned to train properly? Maybe all these years you never pushed yourself and trained like a warrior? Maybe it's not your fault, maybe your instructor is wishy washy too and he just paased it down to you. Too bad.
Hey guys, I drove my honda accord into a wall, don't buy Honda they fricking suck. Maybe if I drive a Toyota I won't drive it into a wall because it's a better car!

Well I guess the core of the issue is if an art doesnt fill you with the confidence needed to deal with any self defence situation whats it good for. They taught pathetic knife defences,Unrealistic multiple attacker situations. You cant sit there and tell me this is usefull stuff!I have however taken my very skillfull use of kicks with me.But to assume that in a fight you are just going to trade blows I hit you you hit me back style is crazzyness. No matter how much you love TKD deep down you KNOW im right.

Your not going to beleive this Thai but I agree with you 100%.I used to go on and on about how good TKD was too. They brainwashed me with bullshit as well.I know you do TKD and you loveit but if you have not sampled an actuall fighting art then leave this conversation now because you have no idea just how bad TKD really is.Like anyone would be stupid enough to attack you with a -mid section punch(Sine wave or not!).
-Knife hand strike(Might as well give two weeks writen notice)
-Ridge hand strike(To weak easily blocked too)
-Side Kick(Better buy a gun because you'll need it once your opponent see's it coming and is long gone!)
-Back fist(An absolute joke.Refer to Knife hand strike)
Would you like me to continue?

Thai Bri doesn't do or love TKD. I do and teach TKD but wouldn't say I love it any more than I love all martial arts. And I have trained in fighting arts, even fought Muay Thai here in Thailand and won using TKD.
The school you went to was sheet. Bad knife defenses and lame self defence are not what is taught at all TKD schools, just the one you went to.
Your synopsis of those strikes you listed is wrong, everything works if set up. And EACH of those strikes should have enough power to break bone. None of them are weak, unless of course, YOU suck.

Tae Kwon-Do has alway's worked for me! I worked as a bouncer and in security for year's. Got a few bump's and bruises, but i alway's walked out of it in one piece. The guy's i tangled with sure as hell can't say that! My backgruond is classical, some say old school T.K.D. We used are hands and feet equaly. With lots of full contact.plus, sweep's, throw's , and joint lock's etc. There are many system's of T.K.D. Some hardcore, some not.for the most part i would say it is the instructor's emphasis that make's it what it is. Mithios

As a bouncer what have you used in your job. Has it been kicks, Locks, sweeps or punches. I would gather that you've never lifted you leg past someones Knee; and that you may have used lock and sweeps and out of aggresion perhaps a punch or two.
I am a serious believer in practicing for the mission, not what was taught before but what still works today.
In your opinion can a grappler - straight grappler do what you do.
