i may have spelled it wrong. all i know about it is that it is beleived to be the precursor of tkd that we know today. it is urposedly a very powerfull art somewhat like shotokan karate. my master trained in it when he was youngerand now he is teaching it to us. he is really big on streetfighting and self defense and he says that this is much better than that stuff they use in point fighting. he says that isn't real.

Yeah, I've heard of Tae Kyon, but it is a Korean Style of stand up fighting. The style is allmost all legs; you kick like TKD, but you are also aloud to attempt sweeps, trips and throws in a sumo like manner.

i have a friend from korea who used to study that art along with tkd. he even preferred it over tae kwon do, better kicks.

I find that very hard to believe. In what way are the kicks better than TKD?

There are even fewer hand techs. in taekkyon than in tkd, so of coarse people who train in it are goin to have better kicks. I didn't mean that the kicks are better in a sense that they are more effective, just so ya know. Actually tkd can be traced back to taekkyon, so the kicks are pretty much the same.

                    TaeKyon and Shotokan...

                    Dear Who Ever,

I wish to correct a major misunderstanding...Taekyon in no way looks like Shotokan Karate. For that matter, it is traditional Taekwon-Do that appears much like Shotokan!

Please visit Turtle Press at www.turtlepress.com They should have a clip in the promotional section!

                    TAEKWON!
