i dont care what anyone says, wtf hurts. today at class we were sparring and it hurt. it hurt bad. i broke a couple ribs and horribly jammed 2 fingers. i usually consider myself to be a pretty good fighter being almost a black belt and beating most people in my class. today i fough someone way better. he way a black belt with about four more years fighting experience. anyway i was just wondering if any of you guys knew any real good sparring techniques. i have really fast hands so i usally just try to get inside with kicks and then go at it with my hands but that wasn't working tonight. i didn't think i was telegraphing but this guy read me like a book. again i just wanted to know if you guys wanted had any good techniques.
    ~thanx~

Well im a bb actually in TKD. The key to not getting hit by the kicks is this. Right when he throws a kick, you throw a kick or kick his kick. Like lets say he fakes a side kick on his left or right to a jumping roundhouse kick with the right leg to a left roundhouse kick. What do you do you? Step in right when he fakes his sidekick, by then he will deliver the jumping round house. Push the leg rightwards, and move to the right side and do a reverse tornado kick. Or push his leg rightwards, stick him on the side of the head or chest gaurd. Then side step and deliver a roundhouse kick. This works on most occasions actually, just alotta of TKD practice it will take. There are some good videos, books, and DVDs on sparring. Check em out, I'll post some clips of my tournaments later on in the year when they come up.

P.S. The roundhouse kicks works after you stick him, if you punch hard enough. It will make him a little disorientated, his leftround house kick wont be so accurate or powerful. That combo of fake side to roundhouse to roundhouse was popular in my dojang.

          This technique aint easy

I don't do those same moves everytime, it just an example. Also depends how hard of a kicker they are.

If they kick hard as hell, dont block it with hands, move in or step out of the way. If they with no power just push it then.

That was clever, the way you use capitals and no punctuation and misspelling little words like "your" by using the word "yo".

How's that working out for you? being clever.

for TKD king, this isn't right to call the WTF a sissy, I saw some olympic WTF TKD fights, let me tell u that somes got really hurt!

And if you think that it's so cool for u to fight without gloves, it's not such a big deal! TKD is still TKD, don't disrespect someone else because that person is from an another association. You are not following too well the THE TENETS OF TAEKWON DO, you know what humility is?

Even though we are a wft we dont use any gloves, chest pads, shin guards, or foot padding like most other schols. We can also sweep which most schools also dont do. The only thing we have on is head gear and a mouth gaurd. And if you want to try to be a real badass why dont you come to my school and try to fight any one of us.

                      Stop that.

To say that one organization is weaker or stronger than another is incorrect. I'm in an ITF school that uses hand, foot, head and shinpads. I've no doubt that there are ITF and WTF classes that use more or fewer pads than my school. I don't delude myself with the notion that I'm some kind of hardass, because doing so always coincides with my getting the crap kicked out of my ears.

It would appear karma is quicker to act on some than on others...

                        Back on topic here:

One move that I use a lot (because it works) is a fake front into a roundhouse. I don't know why but it works 99% of the time. Do a slower front snap kick and right before you commit slam it into a roundhouse to the head. It works every time... almost.

                          Exp

Well TKDGuy, the key word in your statement was experience. There is no replacement for that. I am wondering what kind of kick he hit you with since there are numerous counters that can help prevent injury. If it was a roundhouse, I have a couple of things for you. First and foremost if he is kicking that hard, you MUST move out of the way. Another thing you can do and this all depends on your skill level... When he begins to bring his leg up for the kick 45 degree sidestep AWAY from the leg in which he is kicking with and either hit him with a roundhouse of your own or if you are fast enough, a spinning back kick would hit him square in the chest with good strength, or a spinning hook kick (my favorite) in the open part of the head gear. Usually the 45 degree sidestep would work I am confident with this move enough to say it has a 85% success rate IF it is well practiced and executed. With this sidestep you can throw other kicks as well, axe kicks, cresent kicks, turing roundhouses and even a sidekick (too slow IMHO). I hope this helps and if it didnt please comment back on what exactly you need help with and I will see what I can do for you.

thanx a lot guys and if it makes any difference it was a combination kick that started as a spinin back hook which i ducked under and then he hit me with a font kick and then a spining back kick to the ribs/arm
