  • Favorite techniques/kicks with pictures

I enjoy doing some of the flashy techinques, are they all practical of course not that doesn't mean that they aren't fun.

Here are a few of my favorite techniques.

Some are just for fun such as the back flip. I learned how to do this at 30. I am one of two people in my school who can do a back flip.

The double kick is fun but not particularly practical. I have used it to kick 2 boards at once. I guess if you have 2 opponents who are sleeping you might catch them with this.

The running on the wall might possibly have an application. Like kicking a really tall person but more likely would help one get over a high wall.

The front fall is useful for sprawling, if swept etc.

The hajin is the way to fall after an arm drag throw, a hip toss or any other throw that results in a sommersult in the air.

I would be interested in seeing pictures of you doing your favorite techinques/kicks. Korean Martial arts are often full of flashy techniques, so toot your horns and lets see what you have got.

If you want some real flashy techniques search for AirNick in some of the other forums like martialartsplanet.com, he's KSW aswell.

I was just interested in seeing what some of you folks can do. I have been reading this forum for several months but I rarely see any photos/videos of anyone doing the techinques. I generally see postings of other people that are not a member of this forum who are then mocked/critiqued.

Thanks. I don't focus a lot of time on the acrobatics but I enjoy doing them for demos and to show new students a variety of things that they can learn. I generally do a couple each time new students are evaluating my 3-6 year classes to impress the parents that I know of what I speak when I am trying to teach their children tumbling and falls.

                Ha ha NICE!

I like that, it looks like you've went all hollywood and used CGI to delete the wires keeping you suspeded in mid-air.

Kudos on the running up the wall kick!

LOL! Can you fall with style? I mean, other than getting up laughing?

I don't bounce too well anymore...

Sandtiger, how much ground clearance do you get on these jumps? Looks like one could drive a truck underneath you!

On the double leg kick the tip of my toes are just over 6', here is a shot of me doing a double board break. The guy on the left is about 6' 4". The camera was not fast enough but if you look closely you can see my feet on the ground the peak of my jump and the blur of the board launching over the guy on the right.

On most of the others I get a little over 4' clearance.

Not really, I have just always been pretty good at jumping. I guessing being short I had to hop a lot to see over the crowd.

Nice way to incorporate some variety in your excercises.

How are your 540's and 720's? As a matter of fact Century MA as a "tricking" DVD you may want to check out. I have never seen it, but I've been told that it has some of the tricks to learning the big show stoppers.
