Hi Piston. I only said Kenpo because I think you said you didn't want to change your structure from TKD that much. While Kenpo and TKD structures are different, they're more similar than TKD and Boxing.

Kenpo, specificially American Kenpo and all its derivitives, mostly comes from Ed Parker and William Chow. Their systems are based on Okinawa and Chinese systems, and focus a lot on self defense. Lots of fast hand combinations.

I still believe that Western Boxing is one of the best arts you can train in to better your punching. Yes its a sport and lots of stuff is illegal, but a lot of the training you'll get is invalueable.

If you can find a Muay Thai school, that would be even better. You'll get all the hand training from Boxing, plus Thai's elbow, knees, clinch work, kicks etc.

Excellent point, not to mention that kenpo's hand techniques are done without gloves and uses open hand strikes as well as clenched fists.

If your goal is to improve your hands than boxing is the way to go... besides, it's the Sport of Kings, and that just sounds cool Seriously though, find a good boxing gym and see if they'll give you a trial lesson, you'll be glad you did.

Lol thats the first thing I said, I DID have a trial lesson with a champion, and some of the stuff was eye-opening, I ain't going into detail here - read the post dammit! :P.

I am curious about some styles of karate out there, some seem to have some good power punches, but I wouldn't know where to start. Got to admit I don't like the no-hits-to-the-face sparring style.

LOL... I just reread the original post, sorry about that. I only know of it by reputation but apparently Kyokushin Karate is supposed to be very practical- although I think they don't punch to the face. Certainly Muay Thai has a lot to recomend it. The thing is Thai boxers and boxers throw punches the same way so I would think you'd run into the same problem there
