Expelled from the Oh Do Kwan? Hmmmm. What is your source for this info? I know GM Son "expelled" him and others from the Chung Do Kwan in an infamous newspaper ad whic seemingly lead to GM Son's leaving the Chung Do Kwan shortly thereafter only to have the others who he purportedly expelled not only remain but one succeeeded him as president.

There is no doubt that as the political winds changed direction in Korea General Choi was no longer in a favored position and was made an ambassador.

But the "expulsion" term with regard to the Oh Do Kwan I have not seen before so I would like to know from whence it came.
Last year while visiting Taekwondo Oh Do Kwan - Kwan Bon Bu (HQ), I heard he was expelled directly from Taekwondo Oh Do Kwan seniors, including the current president. As Choi was about to leave S. Korea for Canada, the Oh Do Kwan distanced themselves from him.

    Best Regards -

A lot of people say a lot of stuff about a lot of people. One of the most infamous was what GM Son said / did with the expulsion of several from the Chung Do Kwan including GM Uhm who shortly after GM Son published this item (which also expelled General Choi and GM Nam Tae Hi) became the head of the Chung Do Kwan for decades and GM Son was gone.
So, it shows what the expulsion was really worth.

Was the current Oh Do Kwan pres. around when th event took place or is it part of the current Oh Do Kwan legend?

Perhaps it's kind of like "I quit" no "you are fired" kind of thing. We all know that General Choi after being favored by the government was later disfavored by a new government and left.

I know that as an American it is really difficult to appreciate the types of governmental changes that happen in other countries including foreign occupation and military coups and the pressures that can be used.

Yes, he was around. As a matter of fact, he was interview by - and supplied documents to the authors of "A Modern History of Taekwondo".

I would not consider him and other Oh Do Kwan seniors who were there as "a lot of people", like some guy just running his mouth about events back then. I give them more credit than that.

          Best Regards

            I value self control.

This may be a hard poll.
That was a tough question! I chose "Indominable Spirit" because a true MAist has just that for sure. I've seen others without any of the others.
