  • Kukkiwon certified tkd schools

    Does it make a real big difference is a school is Kukkiwon certified. Sounds like its a real big deal, but in my area there are not to many that are. Does this mean all other schools arent as good.

    Thanks i need a little help here

    I don't think it's a big deal personally, I care about the quality of instruction and the group I'll be training with more than I do who signs my certificates
    Thanks for the reply excesiveforce. Can i ask you another question, how do i tell if i instructor is legit. Will they have something, how do i know some guy just didnt buy a black belt on the net and try to train guys. Im asking cause im looking for a hardcore place or someone who know what there doing.

      Actually, there is no such animal here in the states. A school may have Black Belts who are certified with the KKW, but the school itself is not. All schools that practice the Olympic or kukki-style method of TKD usually also certify the individual black belts with the KKW.

        Such certification carries a small degree of "weight". Per other examples;

        Would you prefer to take your diesel Mercedes to a certitified diesel mechanic?

        Would you rather have your eyes checked, or lazer, by a certified doctor in the field?

        Would you study BJJ from someone who just pick it up scantly from another non-certified instructor?

        Though the belt, or certificate, may not fully represent the ability of instruction, it weeds out those who have not put in quality time to at least have better experience.
