I'm a firm believer in practicing. Especially, solo practice in between dojang visits. You never really know how good you are until you have to defend yourself in a real life situation. Most people doubt their self; but if you practice hard, one day you will shock your own self. {eg., wow did I really do that}. I had an instructor that used to say, "if you practice hard then when you really need a technique it may be twice as effective because of your chi and adrenaline."
One of the best ways to continue to learn is through cross training. Especially once you receive a Black Belt in a core system. Train and practice with the energy you would use in a real fight.
