  • kwon bop

Anyone here taken kwon bop? Just curious. One of my instructors used to train in this(I know I can just ask him. But, I thought I would get some of your opinions as well). What does this art entail and what did you like about it?

    What is kwon bop?

Kwon bop means 'fist technique'? Any native Korean speakers here? Never heard of it.

Did he say what the style emphasized?

Yeah. .I was just curious about what the concepts and emphasis are. Apparently no one else has heard of it either.

Whats funny is I am learning about Be Bop in school right now in my african american music class. Very boring.

But Kwan Bop is basically the Korean name for Karate. There really isnt any difference from Kwan Bop and Karate. The Jidokwan students practiced this art. Kwan Bop was one of the many styles that influenced Tae Kwon Do.

              Kwon Bop

I believe Kwon Bop was the name for an older, Chinese-influenced, precursor to Tae Kwon Do that included more hand techniques. Tae Kyon was the more Korean precursor that was more kicking based.
Put Tae Kyon kicking together with Japanese karate and Kwon Bop and you have Tae Kwon Do.
