The Underground has so many resources, ie pro fighters on the board, aspiring fighters, Q&A with pros, but for some reason there are so many stupid people there. I wonder if having pro fighters on the board is detrimental to people's free speech, in that people are likely to kiss ass rather than post sincerely when there is a real fighter there. It seems like there are so many many guys there that are training full time. Here, most guys train as a hobby and have a real job or school during the day. I have an issue with guys training full time because I think that being an elite MMA competitor is a life that chooses you, not something anyone can do as things are becoming more and more competitive. That isn't to say that one shouldn't give it their best shot if they truly love it but people should remember that even the elites don't make that much money competing and the people who are most well known are so because of their business sense. I've done some weak trolls at the Underground and been disgusted by the # of po'd responses I've gotten. I only signed up there because Mousel's was down for a bit. I know I rambled off the point but most people at that forum are dim witted and have a poor sense of reality.

I believe that the Underground has evolved into a fine MMA forum. The admin guys have gone to great lengths to offer its members great deals on products and access to some of the biggest names in the industry. It was the only place online that I could see results of the last UFC as it happened. Thanks to Striker18 over there for his great efforts in getting the results to the eager fans around the world. He is a true champion of a human being.
Any forum of that size is going to have a percentage of d ickheads. Its a reflection of society and has to be expected.

i agree with shimora about the dickheads; there are a lot of trolls at UG simply because there are a hell of a lot of people on at one time (around 400-600?). it still is a great sight. the fighter's notebook, which sales drive the sight, is also a well respected manual according to many people (Bill Lewis etc.) and has gotten rave reviews from its owners. I have no first hand info, but i wouldn't mind taking a look at it some time.
I think the respect and courtesy is higher here and at ITG than at UG simply because most of the people here practice a martial art and r mature. i don't think that there are that many full-time fighters there, if you look at the total number of members there. I prefer going the judo/sambo site at MMA, since there are more interesting and practical questions related to grappling.

UG is my favorite MMA fan site. HOWEVER, what bothers me is that the bastard name 'Kirik'. I don't know what he does for living but he seems to spend 24 hours on the site, getting involved in every thread. Whenever, his name is mentioned in any thread, he appears immediately. And everytime when he sees some post that he doesn't agree on, he post back with an attack manner. And when you talk back with a dissagreement, man.... you just get BANNED without any warning at all!!!!! You know, the site is really cool with many pro fighters comes in and I mostly enjoy spending some time in there but ... it's really makes me sick when the administrator taking advantage on the members. Three of my friend got banned and they have no clue why. Sheez, at least let them know the reason.Comment

You are mistaken my friend. Kirik only gets online between 7.00am and 9.00am most days. He has a gym to run and many other real world commitments which keep him away from his PC. It might appear that he sits there day and night but generally he does not. I have found him to be the most reasonable of the 3 admin guys. He is the one least affected by personal opinions he might have about a member. Now if you are going to accuse someone of abusing their position there it is certainly not him. Im not going to get into which one of them abuses his power because Im through with publically bagging them. Overall they do a great job for the sport. I love them all dearly.Comment

Let me give you two examples of why Kirik is an asshole:
1. You can insult with using any dirty words on Wallid Ismail. Go ahead and post 'Wallid sucks", "Wallid must die", "Wallid is a faggot". Believe me your thread will last until it falls down to the next page.
2. You don't need to use any bad words as above on Renzo Gracie. Just write like Renzo is overrated or Renzo's skill is not as good as most people thinks. Then, you'll be attacked by many guys that dissagree with you and I guarentee you that you'll never be able to respond more than 2 times with anyone on that subject. You'll be gone!
The rules of UG doesn't mean jack shit! It's all depends on whether you kiss Kirik's ass or piss Kirik off. After all, he's the boss. What can anyone do about it.

I know what you mean. I just dont agree that its just Kirik in particular. I have noticed that its OK to slag off about Tony Cecchine but heavan help you if you dare criticise Tony Blauer. In the same fashion it seems acceptable to diss anything made by Panther video where as WMA must be treated with respect. Yes there are approved whipping boys and there are untouchables no doubt about it. I also see some people get away with unbelievable things while others get banned for the slightest thing. For example they banned Pdeking a few weeks back because one of the admin felt that he made a troll post about Rickson. On the other hand someone called Reality_Check trolled the forum for weeks with seeming impunity. In another example they banned a guy called nogi for using profanity in one post. Yet now I see a guy called Nihilist is breaking every rule they have but they turn a blind eye. I have discussed this double standard with Kirik and he assures me that they try to be impartial and treat everyone as equal, its just such an immense job of trying to watch every post thats made. Although I admit it is strange that we can see this yet they cant

That being said I still think they do a great job for the sport. Their forum has gone from strength to strength since its inception.Comment
