I was sparring about 2 hours ago and we went for 30 minutes. The shots that I took to the face have left me with visible bruises. These are not cuts. I already put ice on them, so it did not swell up. But the markings look like whip hittings. Any advice on getting rid of them quickly b/c I have to attend a social function this weekend.

yeah, makeup. My dad used to make me put on make up to cover up the bruises before I went to school.
"I feel down the stairs" he'd tell me to say..

i have only had two black eyes. And at school it made people nervous that I got them at practice rather than in a fight. One was very bad and led to nerve damage.
rubbing a bruise will help it go away also using some compounds that draw blood to the affected area will help.
Make up can work too.

Well,,,, I don't know if you'll like this or not but I'll give you the advice my wife gave me.
I came home one night with a broken nose and my wife told me, "You should really learn to block". Yeah, as if I didn't think about that one already. I didn't think she was very funny.

hmm, when I sit on the bus with a black eye, people tend to NOT sit besides me..that could be connected with my size and general looks.. but I'm nice and kind as the day is long.. (which isn't very long, since we have 1 hour of light up here.. :P ) ha ha.

I haven't posted on the forum in over 2 years, but I thought I'd take a quick look at what's been going on.
The only good way to get the swelling down is, unfortunately, ice/cold compounds and time. Don't ice them for more than 20 minutes straight. After 20 minutes, let it sit for about 15 minutes then recompress.
Don't listen to some of the morons on this thread - if your not getting hit, your likely not learning and improving.
