  • This is really wierd....

    Any of you guys have this wierd thing where you're right handed but you do "lefty" kinda moves? Like when you armbar from the mount you armbar their right arm instead of their left? Or for the sleeper hold you wrap your left arm around their neck instead of your right?

    be glad, you shold really be able to go either way. I try not to to train "right handed" or "left handed", make both ways just as easy.

    if you train both sides, usually it won't seem weird to go the "other" way.

      yeah I hate training to be ambedextrous but you gotta do it. I always get frustrated trying to wrestle like a lefty.

        I'm right handed but if I'm not thinking about it, I'll do a rear naked choke with my left hand. Before I know what I'm doing, the choke is on and I can't complete it because it never works on my left arm.

        I think being able to do things on both sides is a lot easier in grappling than striking.

          I have that happen to me a couple of times. Like i'd jsut shoot for whatever hold i can and before i know it i can't keep the hold cuz the guy is struggling too much and i suck at holding it with that hand.

            Well that's what grappling at class is for, isn't it? To try out new stuff, new sides included?

            I'm a righty, but my left leg kicks pack a lot more punch and can go a lot higher. The odd thing is that when playing soccer or rugby, I favour my right leg for kicks. Go figure.

              It probably has to do with all that right brain left brain thing. Lefties just seem to be wired backwards compared to righties I believe and even then you get some people whose strength fluctuates depending on what they are doing.
