  • I played that scenario a few times in my mind, the spread eagle thing. Wouldn't your back be pinned to the ground when you do it? Or do you turn your body to the side?
And can you give me some tips to clear my mind when wrestling? Because my mind constantly wants me to do this move or this specific takedown and it is slowing me down big time.

    • The only advice I could think of to give on how to not constantly think about what wrestling moves your going to do while in the actual bout itself would largely depend on experience. If you wrestle long enough your brain will just know what to do without having to think about it. *shrugs*

If you're looking for a quick solution, I don't think you will find one so easily.

If you have time to think, you are not working hard enough.

            • hehe I was just pulling your leg...and setting you all up for a takedown where I mount you and roll you up into a ball and collect 3000 pts for the victory. yeah you will definately need more info but its a start. just keep listening to everyone else and you'll do fine. if you really want to clear your mind watch a lot of tv and you'll be as empty headed as the entire cast of Friends.

              • I've been checking out different shooting techniques and I've came down to two. one is where you step (deep) forward with one foot and use it(the foot you just stepped in with) to propel yourself into your opponent. The second is where you change your level, take a small step by pushing off a bit with your hind leg,and using the now forward leg to eject yourself into your opponnent.

So any ideas which one works better?

If those two are not the same, you are doing something wrong.

Dude you have to practice more and think less. This is no differnt than MA in the sense that you don't think moves on teh mat it is just reaction. If you can think on the mat and you are winning teh other guy is a fish.....and if you are loosing nuff said. Either way you are probably not working hard enough.

Umm again, did you practice this move or are you keeping in your head for a rainy day. I cautioned that if you do not execute correctly you could have a defensive pin. You stay on your side and angle with your free foot rooling in towards the head almost like a smal package, but not quite

                        • I've done that move a couple of times and I seem to get the hang of it. Match tonight, wish me luck. I'll clear my mind and try to beat the guy in the first round, cuz I hate ref's position. I'll do my best not to rush things but I'll prefer if it didn't go to second.

I'll practice changing my level first before I shoot while we sit around and wait till the match starts.

                            • Nobody in my weight class so we goty a forfeit(I wrestled varsity that time). We won 50 to 18 . I've been doing the takedown right for a while now and i didn't even know it. If I want to step in with my right leg should I lead with the right leg or the left? The way I see it is that If i lead with my right leg, I would be quicker, so naturally i'd go with the right leg in front staggard stance. But I want to make sure first.
